Does anyone on here actually *like* this game?

I liked it because of how weird it feels

Anon you got the bait thread backwards, you're supposed to pretend to hate something people actually liked.

>> No.6479486

I do. I love Chaotix. Sure, it's easy but the special stages are some of the best in the series and it's really refreshing playing a Donic game with no Sonic except the ending credits for the good ending. The spritework is gorgeous too. There are also a lot of fun quirks about this game that just scream personality like the day/night system and dark rings falling out of enemies when you kill them. Chaotix is a good game to just veg out to IMO. It's not a game that I find myself thinking of where to go or how I'm getting there but more about enjoying myself on the way there. That being said, Chaotix isn't bad, but compared to the other Sonic offerings at the time it certainly doesn't hold a candle to 3&K or 2.

It's the most gimmicky of Sonic games. Can't blame Sega of not experimenting with things.

>> No.6479578

I enjoy it.

After 20 years of playing it I still can't memorize a single one of the stage layouts and I usually find the end goal by accident, but I still enjoy playing it.

Final bosses are a serious letdown though.

Art and music are 10/10. I really wanted a 32x as a kid just for this mysterious sonic game.

Level design is unfinished and ring mechanic is broken. Could have been a great game if they spent a few more months improving the level design and including sonic as playable.

It's not gimmicky enough. There's nothing to this game beyond the tether mechanic.

I like it quite a bit. I like the controls, the musics and graphics.

The level design is just too repetitive and senseless. It's the only real flaw.

I wish I knew what happened with this game, since at first it was supposed to have Sonic & Tails.

I think that the special stages are the best of any Sonic related game. Especially the special stage with the song "tachy touch". Everything you said is based.

>>6479564
I don't blame them neither, I actually want them to experiment more like that did in the Genesis era

>>6479608
It's a more defined "Sonic Crackers" that's for sure.

>>6480108
He got taste, they should have done more for Knuckles own spotlight. Hell, they could've ported Chaotix to the Saturn and it would've sold despite any criticism.

Second best. Saturn 3D Blast's Special Stages are definitely the best ones.

>>6480383
>they could've ported Chaotix to the Saturn and it would've sold despite any criticism.
It's actually depressing that Sega never did any official port of Chaotix. Even Fighters got one.

>> No.6480579

>>6480497
I Slept on that, only because I've been so used to the Genesis version of 3d blast.

And I never understood it neither, aside from the fact that SOJ and SOA beef prevented them from really making wonders happen with Sega.

Like most of Sonic's output during the late 90's, there's some cool ideas, a nice aesthetic, and catchy music, but it's all hampered by the shittiest execution they could possibly muster
