What are some of the best classic-era Cartoon Network games? I already played Rescue of Dino and Hoppy and it was pretty damn good! Is the 2nd Flintstones games as good?
Also, any good game within the Cartoon Cartoons-era? I know N64 and GBC got some Powerpuff Girls games and the like, any good?

Dexter's lab robot rampage is the best elevator action clone, to the point it's the best elevator action game

Hm, seems Taito was actually involved in this game, but it's USA-only. Interesting, thanks for the rec anon!

I know of this game. It is on my list, have not played it yet but I have heard it is a neat platformer. Doubt it's Umihara Kawase tier but hey, it seems to be not only what you're looking for, and a quality game. Hilariously, when brought over to Japan, it was localized to feature a cute girl using a demon head instead of a vacuum lmao

you should definitely play this. dedicate a few hours to it and feel those buttery smooth controls

Reassuring to know it is good, thanks anon, I will. I planned on playing both versions actually.

It's because the original version is Elevator Action, they gave it a Dexter skin for the US one. It's pretty good like that anon said.

Going to be honest here. Powerpuff Girls video games don't start becoming "good" until the 6th generation. The three GBC games just aren't very fun to play, and Chemical X-Traction is a Power Stone clone that falls flat in every regard (PS1 version is superior, but that's not saying much).

About the GBC games:
>They're more or less reskins with different levels to boot. Choose your favorite girl, because it will feel like the same experience regardless of the game.
>Gameplay boils down to collecting key items, or finding key characters in a level before fighting a level boss, all while fighting off a bunch of henchmen.
>Attacking has a delay that's about a second long, and combat isn't satisfying either.
>You have a limit to how long you can fly before plummeting to the ground. Movement in general is finicky, and only becomes serviceable when inputting a cheat for infinite flight.
>If you lose a life, level progress completely resets.

Bottom line, they're nothing more than licensed bargain bin shovelware to cash in on the show's popularity at the time. Also, input RICHARDKIM and BILLSGIRLS in the cheats for secret developer messages and photos.

Taito was involved with the majority of the hanna barbera/CN licensed games.
I wish we got even more, imagine an Herculoids beat 'em up.

Taito's licensed games are underrated.
They should be included in the holy trinity of retro licensed devs along with Konami and Capcom.

While the Tom & Jerry license didn't fall in the hands of better devs/publishers, I have some nostalgia for the SNES game. Decent enough, as far as Hi-Tech Expressions shovelware go.

Slightly off, but why didn't CN air the post-1950 Looney Tunes (ie. everything about Roadrunner, Foghorn Leghorn, Tweety/Sylvester).

There was some stupid ass controversy about a lot of the old cartoons and some of the characters being racist. A lot of the cartoons and certain characters were pulled off the air for this reason. Speedy gonzales cousin slow poke was seen as a stereotype for mexicans being lazy for example. Pepe lapue cartoons were pulled also. This happened somewhere between 2004-2007 if I remember correctly.

I'm pretty sure they tried to sweep Speedy himself under the rug and not just Slowpoke. They eventually brought him back because there was a lot of backlash, mainly from Mexicans. Not sure if the other "offensive" Looney Tunes had as much support, but I think most of them are around now.

nope, long story short, CN run everything they had just from the Turner library when they started, by the mid 90s they started producing their own shit like 2 Stupid Dogs and Swat Katz, then lead the What a Cartoon Show pilots which lead to the Cartoon Cartoons.

As for the WB shorts, they only have everything pre 1948 because that was separated thanks to some union bullshit by the infamous AAP (that logo used to run before every cartoon short) and they got that from Turner as well, just later they bought the rights to the rest of the WB shorts until late 97

>> No.6486505

I remember Cartoon Network having black and white Betty Boop cartoons, very late at night, like 3AM or so. Those were definitely pre-40s films.

Both Tiny Toons games on the NES are great all around, gameplay, controls, music and fun to play, maybe a bit had, bud I don't remember.
Also this>>6484604 either version is good, but if I remember well, it gets tough towards the end.
And although I got through the Tom&Jerry(&Tuffy) on NES it was kinda cluncky.

And yet one of the best HB licensed games was by Atlus. I find it weird how some boomers decided that the perfect game for 1992 would be a tie in to a 1968 cartoon.

Cartoon Network was making these old 60s shows popular with kids again, precisely, I think CN started in 1992. If it's not that, then it was a huge coincidence.

I'm not from USA so maybe the nickelodeon I got was different here. Nickelodeon arrived to my country in 1996, and it was mainly a Rugrats/Doug/Ah! Real Monsters channel, that kind of stuff. I don't remember any Warner stuff in it.
