Almost. The second one is better in every way. It also has a weird Sonic CD situation where the soundtrack is different outside Japan, but it's actually much better than the original soundtrack.

I just unbelievably do not agree with you, Tomba! Is an absolute MASTERPIECE. Tomba! 2 is a disappointment

>> No.6480932

>>6480897
Why? I get the love for Tomba 1, it's a very good game. But I find the low-poly early 3D models of the second game a lot more charming. I like the initial village, the mines, the forest and every location a lot more than the ones from the first game (which were really cool too). I like the weapons better and the mechanics feel a bit more polished. I also love the squirrel suit and that charming part where you climb a huge tree and have to fly through a dozen chests floating in mid air.

It comes down to preference, I’ve played both games, Tomba! Was a game I had as a kid and I still play it to this day. I bought Tomba! 2, Years later as an adult, and the charm was gone, Tomba! Didn’t look right in 3D, and it didn’t play the same, it just wasn’t “right”. If that makes any sense, I’ve beaten Tomba! At least 8 times in my 26 years of life, but I’ve never even managed to beat the 2nd one. It’s a very disappointing experience.

Both are great for different reasons. Saying the 2nd one is shit, is retarded.

>> No.6481086

I LOVE how it looks when something breaks in Tomba 2. All the polygons flying off, and that sound, it's pure soul.

I hate how this shit is still possible to do in modern consoles but nobody will ever do it again.

Indeed and the fisher town is one of my favorite starting areas of all games. You are thrown right into the action, nevertheless there are still people and it is comfy.

>> No.6481112

I didn’t say it was shit though? Why are you twisting words to fit in your mouth? I think it’s a disappointing game, not a shitty one, learn to comprehend words dude.

I also like that, if you spend too long in a zone, the song loops a few times and eventually the theme of the next zone starts playing.

It's clearly an error and it's a bit off-putting to hear the mine theme in the fisherman's town and stuff like that, but at the same time it's incredibly nostalgic and the game wouldn't be the same without it.

i still have to beat 1, last i remember was collecting those maple leaf butterflys in that sack with the purple shorts on i think, beat 2 though and love the game play of both
platforming with rpg elements done right, and the world itself is full of what atleast seems to be unhindered creative efforts, pure soul

I don't understand why there are no more jump'n'runs with RPG elements. I only know Tomba 1-2 and Dragon Valor and even Dragon Valor is more action.

Travelling the world not via a level select screen like Donkey Kong Country but via areas that are connected like in Tomba and being able to change your character with equipment and have quests etc... is immersive as fuck. There should be a kickstarter for Tomba 3.

I think you had to 100% it, which kinda sucks because there are missable missions in that game. Only a couple, though. I remember that one barrel you have to break in a certain way, and also a mission early on that requires breaking something else (or feeding a fruit to a plant or something).

I like how violent the sounds effects were. Remember that machine they used to shave the chickens? They were just thrown in there violently with crazy machine sounds and shit, it sounded like they were being turned into mincemeat.

They are unironically a great pair. Their have the sort of anti-chemistry that makes comical duos so funny.
If these guys weren't actual autists, they could be getting rich by doing comedy together.

Yeah this, they have a great dynamic together. I love too how differently they responded to it afterwards in their respective streams. Chibi was apologetic in his, while Caveman just talks about how Chibi was an annoying fucker.
