What old games do you consider to be overrated or to have aged badly, /vr/?

Any Amiga game. Especially the castlevania one.

Why were Amiga games such total junk? The system is obviously a 2D visual powerhouse, so why did everything on it play like total shit?

Some of them are fine, like Monkey Island.
PC was always more centered around simulation, not arcade. Also, I guess to this day, the ethos to making video games in the west is graphics first, gameplay later. Japan seems to be more balanced, they also care about visual presentation, but almost equally they're all about gameplay/"game feel" as well, something westerners don't really care much about. That's not to say Japan doesn't make shitty games, or the west can't make good action or arcade games (I mean, plenty of good arcade/action games in the west, too), but yeah, generally speaking, you can make that distinction between the two. It seems like the Japanese just will spend these extra hours playtesting and finetuning the actual gameplay to the point it feels great to play, while the west gives more the impression that as long as the graphics look good, and the gameplay isn't completely broken, it gets a pass.
Again, this is generalization, inb4 someone starts cherrypicking games, I know there are good western games and bad japanese games. And also I'm specifically talking about arcade-style/action games, not RPGs or simulators.

I came here to post this. It's a good game, but it's no where near the best JRPG of all time or even on the SNES. I liked FF6 and Earthbound more.

Interesting world but goofy mechanics. It's almost meme now to like it though.

This.
Don't people understand that you're not allowed to like something if too many other people do? You wouldn't someone to possibly judge you, would you?
