I bought Half-Life on sale recently. It's my first time playing one of these older shooters. I've been playing it like I was told you play old shooter; meaning you are on the offensive and running and gunning.n

Yes zoomie, every retro game of a certain genre plays exactly the same, just with different graphics. This is how all videogames work.

Half life is a notably slower fps game. It has its moments of action. Even with that being said there is no right or wrong way to play it.

60% of the game is in grey hallways
30% of the game is in a shitty desert
10% of the game is in another dimension and even Valvedrones hate it.

You will spend 75% of the time using the pistol, shotgun or peashooter SMG
15% the magnum
10% between the other weapons that have no ammo because Valve cannot balance
The game is where the cinematic meme really started to pick up. When it came out the AI was ground breaking but now FEAR has completely outclassed it both in AI and gameplay. It's a horrible game. The modding community is the only redeeming thing.

Daily reminder that Half Life is garbage game loved by /v/edditors and it killed fps games.
Retro gamers hated it.

>> No.6423312 [DELETED]

Half Life 1 is an overly long game with repetitive levels/filler throughout and sub-par shooting (not HL2 levels of bad shooting mind but the gunplay is at best unsatisfying and on hard just spongey enemies). The supposedly amazing marine AI is 90% hardcoding grenade throws and the like + voice lines that have no bearing on what they're actually doing so they seem smarter. There are a lot of weird TECHNOLOGY features like alien-specific AI that, while neat, you'll rarely even see and won't have any effect on your actual experience playing the game. Xen was actually a good way to freshen up the end of the game after endless bland/grey corridors.
You could cut out at least 1/3rd of the entire game and improve the overall experience without losing anything but filler. Much of the game is just walking down grey corridors fighting the same group of 2-3 enemies to flip a switch and while that's true of many classic FPS games they at least had some difficulty, competently designed shooting mechanics and enemy variety to keep it interesting.

>> No.6423316 [DELETED]

"I found HL a bit overly scripted and hyped. The AI that everyone liked was dumb as a brick. I regualarly saw groups of marines yell, ''gernade, duck'' and crouch down next to the gernade for extermination. Also, the aimbot mentality of the AI underpinnings resulted in numerous ''monsters'' blowing themselves up while standing at a corner of a doorway. That coupled with scripted events just not working if you distrupt their path too much, made the game more comical and tedious than what it should have been. At most, the AI was clumsily executed in places.

All in all, only the marines had any decent AI of the group, with the rest of the AI being your classic death fest shooter AI which used the rush the player until you run out of warm bodies. The marines for the most part tried to execute logical maneuvers only to be ruined by impercise path finding and lack of proper threat analysis (see my reference to the ducking next to the gernade behavior).

The more commonly overlooked AI is the AI from Unreal which had much better execution and much better results from the path finding. I found myself regularly surprised when the AI would pin me down behind an embankment or wall while its buds would flank or encircle me. If HL had better pathfinding, I might have been more impressed with the AI that what I was with Unreal. Instead, I am left with a feeling that everything in HL was a scripted event with no AI to support it beyond some minimal efforts at maneuvering."

It’s a serious evolution from quake plot wise while maintaining really tight fast gameplay. The weapon variety at the time was wild and all of the guns felt good and satisfying. It’s hard to see it today, but so many games built off those core ideas.

>> No.6423950

I think the big question is if Quake was really the template for FPS games at the time or if that's a misconception. I see it argued a lot that FPS games before Half-Life had rotating, floating weapons, unrealistic environments, and no scripted events. But I don't know if that's overstated because it's all a bit before my time.

>> No.6423961

In HL1 you generally don't want to use the weapons that can't one-shot-kill the enemies. You want to rely on weapons like the shotgun, revolver, crossbow, or any form of explosives in situations where you can be hit back (like with the marines). Use the pistol and SMG primary attack against enemies who use attacks you can react to.

No, you aren't supposed to go balls out and just run in willy nilly. HL1 was slightly known for it's very good enemy AI by the standard's of the day, but it was otherwise generic if fun shootan.

No game did it like half life or quake. It’s like the iPod. Sure there were other MP3 players before it. But none of them were anything like the iPod or as complete a package to the point where’d I’d rather an iPod OG over any other brand MP3 player. My Sony MP3 is nice and all and has great audio. But I mostly use my iPod nano for workouts. Anyways, my point is that it’s a very complete game and is a really polished product in a way unlike anything else at the time. It’s a really seamless experience with the feel of big expansive levels. The way it all connected and flowed was pretty mind blowing at the time. The voice acting, the animation, the lighting and holy shit the sounds. The gun sounds, the running, the suit sounds, the enemies just amazing sfx all around. Seriously turn off the music and just listen to that game, it’s amazing even compared to games today or Half Life 2. The sound design is on a whole other level.

I mean FFVII and SotN raised the aesthetics and thematic delivery of the genre. Half Life essentially failed on every level, trying to embrace a new form of narrative but sacrificed both gameplay and aesthetics, essentially creating a very hollow experience that autists can project on to and then have a 100+ post thread on here detailing their meltdown.
Some people dislike FFVII.
Some people dislike SotN.
Some people dislike Half Life. Like the previous two groups, you just gotta shut the fuck up and live with the fact some people thinks your game sucks. Seriously never see fans of those other two games sperg out this hard on here.

Masters Of Doom doesn't go all that much into the development of the games as much as it just details the events and interpersonal relationships between the people at iD.

OP here. I just got to Zen. The level before that was very painful. Enemies were spawned behind me, rooms that I cleared out earlier were full again, ammo was pretty scarce, and those big guys are a huge pain. Though, i will admit figuring out what core level three was four and seeing the numbers on the ground, was pretty fun. It was the first time I didn't use a guide or anything.

Yeah I think this is an important point.

Classic FPS games have a lot of dickwaving and an understandable obsession with comparing gameplay to later waves of shooters which results in people overepitomising the gameplay.
But the way people remember or talk about or even play old shooters isn't how you should approach them as a player.

I had and have the most fun approaching those games cautiously and methodically when playing them for the first time.
When I go back and play Doom I sprint around at high speed and being able to bob and weave between threats in close quarters is something I'd emphasise when comparing it favourably to modern gameplay, but that ain't the "natural" way I ever initially approached it, it's just what came naturally later.
Even in Half-Life, which is totally not that kind of game, I'll sprint around like a maniac when I re-play it, but that's mostly because I'm squeezing fun out of an environmental/exploration/narrative game with honestly kind of shitty combat that gets worse with replays unless you're dunking on enemies.

I guess maybe it's valuable to communicate to kids that you *can* play those older games like a cool guy since that constitutes a difference that (maybe, hypothetically) might not be intuitive for them if they grew up on one of the generations of ultra slow console shooters, but we probably shouldn't be giving the impression that there's a right way to do it.
But modern games have broken out of the molasses gameplay somewhat again now so even that's probably moot.

I'm torn between telling you to ignore the negativity about Xen and form your own opinion, and admitting I hate it and telling you to install Black Mesa with a Xen save file and playing through its version of it from here.

But on the other hand this is obviously all a LARP since you just spelled it Zen which is something Half-Life players only do when they're remembering it from years ago as opposed to the game having just introduced the name to them a minute ago.

It is a shame the Xen meme ruined it for you. I always look forward to it. The shift in tone/palette/environment is great and it's conceptually cool. It doesn't suck much more than the rest of the game, it just clearly isn't what it was intended to be either.

This is a legit option though:

People remember Half Life because it spawned a massive modding community with mods like counterstrike, team fortress, day of defeat, and natural selection which would become their own standalone games. Plus hundreds of other mods, both multiplayer and singleplayer.

Anyone else think original Xen was alright and that Black Mesa's Xen is a horribly misinterpreted reimagination with bad aesthetic and level design?

>> No.6428242

>>6428174
I agree that it's misinterpreted and a couple of the levels are bad (and none are great).

However none are worse than the original game; something to keep in mind considering Black Mesa streamlines through the most painful parts of the original so that comparison might be deceptive.

But I think the aesthetic is a huge step up, and they at least tried hard to come up with a complete cohesive experience (even if it's derivative of HL2's beats and not completely polished) that *heavily* reinforces the narrative without introducing fanfiction. Contrasted with the original (which I do think is "alright") it's pretty high-effort and decidedly a large step up, plus the Gonarch and Nihilanth fights are so much better it's not even a contest.
It ain't perfect but I was seriously impressed after being disappointed how little they'd otherwise expanded the base game.

>> No.6428271

>>6428174
I think BM's Xen is good as it's own thing but I don't like how they went for that ayybliens=deep sea aesthetic that's gotten kind of overdone. I liked how fleshy and gross the original Xen was, it was like a swamp made out of pus and bones, it was pretty unique and unsettling. The new Xen feels like a coral reef or something.

>> No.6428283

>>6428242
>misinterpreted
Forgot to clarify this.
Even being agnostic about supposed cut content, from what I gather about the direction the story was meant to take in the the original Xen there was gonna be a lot more going on than we got. Instead there were narrative gaps which I think HL2 intentionally built on. ie I think it's a probably bit more meta than most people suspect (and they didn't actually retcon anything necessarily): they wanted the story to happen through Gordon's eyes so I think that might apply to missing information from his perspective as well.

So that means Black Mesa was working within the confines of very safe canon only. Which is a lot more limited than the "full" Xen experience would have disclosed.
But without a Valve seal of approval on anything they expanded story-wise (which would both undermine the main series and Black Mesa's whole gimmick), people woulda got pretty mad about added elements even if it was all secretly perfectly consistent with the real deal because it came from a super secret inside source.

So they had to play it safe and do a better version of what shipped, which is *wrong* because it's not what a fleshed out version would really have been, but they didn't have that option.

>>6428271
>ayybliens=deep sea aesthetic that's gotten kind of overdone
Ya but it's pretty and it's what Alyx did too so ironically it's now more canonical than the original.

The story - the game’s most praised and memorable aspect - is so incredibly shallow it’s an absolute joke in comparison to the stories found in any other genre of the time outside of racing games. And for FPS games today? It’s so out-dated it just can’t possibly compare. FPS games were always going to improve their story-telling with or without Half-Life. I mean, Half-Life doesn’t even have fucking characters... you know, one of the most basic requirements for a narrative?

Black Mesa’s layout makes no sense and visually it’s very dull a lot of the time. In terms of atmosphere... well, I find it hard to get immersed into a place that looks and feels like the setting of a B-grade action movie. Thief the Dark Project’s world design OBLITERATES Half-Life’s. Both first-person games released in 1998. The difference? One WAS actually innovative and the other is an overrated piece of shit. I mean, in terms of setting, comparing Half-Life’s ‘Black Mesa’ and Thief’s ‘The City’ is like comparing the artistic merits of my Grade 1 stickman drawings to Edvard Munch. In terms of story? It’s like comparing Jack and Jill to The Godfather, Pt. II. In other words, Half-Life is a joke.

>> No.6430626 [DELETED]

The gameplay is poor in comparison to most FPS’, but is an out-right joke compared to games of the era that require... you know, actual enemy prioritisation, quick on your feet thinking, using the right weapons in the right scenarios, staying on the move and using unique movement styles (e.g. dodge in Unreal) to your advantage, having to explore the environment for resources, having to keep ammo in mind constantly etc. etc. Half-Life’s balancing in all regards is awful and its mostly hitscan oriented gameplay doesn’t work when you have innaccurate weapons and fast moving (and firing) enemies that force you to stay out in the open to kill anything, except you can’t avoid taking damage outside of taking cover due to the very nature of hitscan. And platforming is annoying when your movement is frustratingly slippery. Who the hell has ever enjoyed the platforming elements of Half-Life? And apparently Half-Life has puzzle elements, but I don’t know, unless you’re 5 years old I’m not sure how anything about this game is puzzling... except of course how it managed to grow such a butthurt community of fanboys. Half-Life’s combat sucked then and it sure as hell sucks now in retrospect. It’s aged like already sour milk.

>> No.6430634 [DELETED]

Half Life moved the focus point of FPS games over to story telling from movement, speed, and reflexes. Levels were linear and simple rather than sprawling; puzzles were breaks in the path rather than part of the environment. Enemy encounters in other shooters were about constant movement and prioritization of enemies; projectile paths formed realtime "3d mazes" to solve in real-time as where enemies in Half Life were more a matter of no-lean cover-shooting and ammo prioritization. Last, it doesn't feel like a game, it feels like a student project. Half Life 2 only feels worse since it was literally slap dashed together and disjointed - on an even worse engine. Worst of all, it was the main influence of shooters from that point on - ruining the genre. I'll argue it is the direct father of the CoD-ification of shooters in the next decade and the "story telling" focus of mainstream (aka shitty) gaming.

As for a story telling focus, beating it at its own genre, check out System Shock 1. Rebind the controls or use a nod or the new sourceport. I don't like SS2 very much, but it does some similar shit and was a better game.

To see an alternate universe where shooters didn't get shitty, check out the mod scene for DooM and Duke Nukem 3D. They have the same design focus as the old games - often with elements from other genres like platforming, survival horror, and "story-telling" - without ruining or diluting the original focus of the genre.

Today we enjoy retro FPS (of the type Hl1 isn't) because they're a refreshing change of pace from the current state of the industry, but it was literally the inverted situation when HL1 was released: it was the refreshing novelty.

And we replay the base game every few years, but not because it's like... fun, or anything. Nobody understands why.

I first started noticing him sometime last year, his posting style was fairly consistent and he had an obsession with telling people that RPGCodex didn’t like HL. He also obsessed over Counterstrike vs. Quake discussion and would argue about which game took more skill. He’s been periodically popping up since, he usually enters a thread by making a random post about how HL is shit, or he just pastes a paragraph about the game from a random website.
I don’t know what his deal is or where he even came from, but it’s clearly some sort of debilitating mental issue. It may even be multiple people, all I know is that any HL discussion is bound to wake him up and start sperging.

>> No.6436070

Yes, this behavior is typical for him, he does this constantly during his waking hours. He CTRL-Fs the catalog to see if there's a Half-Life thread, and then he obsessively spams it and throws a 12 hour tantrum demanding people agree with him. If there's no Half-Life thread, he sometimes goes into the Doom thread and posts about how he hates Half-Life and how it ruined everything, or make various unrelated passive agressive replies implying his hate for Half-Life.

You will notice that he almost never ever shows up and engage in his caterwalin if the OP post makes no reference to Half-Life, where you can see people talk about it like normal people. Most like it, and most who don't can actually convey why they don't like they're adults, and not a PINS.

One of my main gripes with Half-Life is combat with the soldiers. They barely flinch to damage and they have a retarded amount of health so unless you have SMG grenades, satchel charges, or the railgun, fighting them revolves around unloading your SMG into them while fidgeting back and forth like you're about to piss yourself. If they had just enough health to take em out with a double shotgun blast then I't be a better game. Either way, I'd rather just play Quake or Doom; maybe Deus Ex if I'm looking for something more slow-paced.

>> No.6438481

Other than the alien weapons, no. All of the guns could've been copy-pasted strait from Quake1 and you wouldn't know the difference. The crossbow is the only original and memorable weapon, if only for how obscure yet ironically unobscure it was (for being essentially a railgun). The laser operating the way it did made fuckall sense from a scientific/physics standpoint, but was entertaining to use. The rocketlauncher is by far the worst weapon in HL1 and I'd go farther and say the worst rocket launcher of any of the popular FPS games at the time. Grenades weren't that much better with janky-ass physics after the initial throw/bounce.

People think fondly of HL1's weapons because Q3A's weapons were fucking inexcusable to the point you'd have to have a doctor's note claiming you're suffering from stockholm's syndrome.
All of UT99s weapons were great and unique. The Hammer probably saw the least use outside insult kills and desperation boosts because there was almost no reason to use it if Translocator was enabled.

A lot of even supposedly realistic shooters these days misrepresent shotguns as completely inaccurate and with super short range. Games like Doom, Quake, and Duke Nukem 3D ironically have pretty reasonable shotguns which have ok patterns at a medium distance (aside from the double barrels).

Half-Life's shotgun was never great, but I tolerate it, the altfire helps. The subgun is the one that irks me, partially because it unrealistically is less accurate and powerful than the pistol using the same ammo, but more that its lower damage and wide spray makes it less satisfying. The grenade launcher makes up for it a bit.

In terms of the tech, it was buggy as hell. People act like it somehow revolutionized story-telling in video games, when in reality the plot is the most cliche "a science experiment or something goes wrong and demons/aliens invade our world" you could ever imagine, which apart from countless trashy sci-fi novels and movies had already been done to death in other FPS games including Quake, and was fleshed out much better in RPGs like Shin Megami Tensei. Even the style of the cut-scenes (or lack thereof) wasn't particularly new, FPS games like SiN had done similar things before HL1 came out. Whatever is interesting about the Half Life universe all came in HL2.

Only heard that as a strawman from avid HL haters, and clueless valvedrones that started with HL2/Portal but never actually played HL1.

HL1 is just real-time events happening to/around the player. It has less of a background story than Quake or Duke3D. But what it does differently is the continuity between levels, it's basically all "in one take". You don't have score screens or abrupt level theme changes. It's closer to Quake 2 if anything.

Maybe that's what these elitist doomfags/quakefags really hate, the continuity/lack of cuts in gameplay?

I like half life 1 but I will agree it's kinda overrated
I fucking hate opposing force, half life 2, and episode one, though.
the combat in half life always felt unsatisfactory like none of the enemies had real pain states and the shotgun sound sounds like someone smashing chalk against the wall, so opposing force becomes this bullet spongey mess where you feel awkward in your movement and shooting in relation to the enemy and it takes too long to kill anything.
half life 2 big chungus keanu reeves 69420 pickle rick. reddit game.
episode one is a tower defense game in fps form and resembles fortnite save the world.

No they aren't. 80% of Zoomers don't play any game from before 2010, and most of the ones that do will not pursue mod content for anything old.

Half-life is amazing. Sorry you are a zoomer OP

>> No.6445381

The gunplay was subpar. The plot was practically subtext. It doesn't do talking in the way strife did. Half Life was rather mundane even when it came out. After a lot of the bugs got fixed it was an okay game. Nothing terrible nothing great. The only reason HL even stayed alive and sold so well was because of the mods anyway. CS is effectively what kept HL around and so prominent. If they never got CS it'd be mostly as forgotten as Wheel of Time

Half-Life is the one highly regarded game that I think is just terrible. I have owned it since around a month after it came out and I still just thoroughly dislike it.

Half-Life gets a lot of credit for using scripting to set up interesting scenarios and set pieces. In effect, it was the first game to champion the FPS as a series of loosely related scripted combat sections. People are/were apparently so wowed by this that they ignore that underneath it's a slow game with sloppy gun mechanics reminiscent of an incomplete Quake mod. In that way, HL is the direct predecessor of every hitscan oriented "cinematic" FPS.

I should mention that I've beaten it once and have made various attempts to force myself to do so again to see if there's something I'm missing. Every time it just makes me hate it more.

>> No.6445389

The AI wasn't ground breaking. It did the same thing Q2 did with ducking and healing and setting alarms. Except they scripted hiding in as well. Then they made the AI yell what they were doing.
That was enough to impress idiots. But in actuality their AI was terrible because the AI was poorly written and didn't even dynamically recheck. So what you end up with is soldiers who sit there staring you in the face for ten seconds then running away as you follow them and then stare you in the face etc... Shit like that happened constantly and the AI only seems impressive when you don't actually play the game but watch it instead. Rudimentary AI from Doom plays better. When complexity makes things worse and broken, it's not a good thing.
>>6445302
But only zoomers love it.

>> No.6445392

It's weird that Half Life gets all the credit for pioneering "cutscene-less" FPS storytelling, when Goldeneye's cutscenes were just mission intros and outros - all the ingame storytelling was done ingame, with full player control. You even had to stand around and read subtitles as characters talked in a few missions.
Most overrated game of its time just because it was popular back then and plebs never played anything else back then. Its like those people who nowadays only know Bioshock Infinite and Cawadoody.
A large majority of the people who played half-life were playing CS and didn't play any of those other games. It garnered a very large console fanbase

>> No.6445394

There was nothing in Half-Life that was really a milestone. All the ‘innovations’ the game is routinely praised for had all been done about half a decade before in older first-person games, most obviously in System Shock. Half-Life owes its reputation more to good timing and marketing than any actual revolution in game design.

The monorail ride is a scripted real-time event, which had obviously been done before in first-person games. That sort of illustrates my point that people erroneously attribute innovation to the game where there is none. The reason why games prior to Half-Life didn’t start with a scenic tour is because they prioritized player agency and usually put the player immediately in control.

As for level design, Doom, Quake, Unreal and the aforementioned System Shock all predate Half-Life and I’d argue that they have superior and more consistent level design that has stood the test of time better. That’s not to say Half-Life is not a good or inspired game, but I think its accessibility was the reason why the game ultimately became such a big deal.

>> No.6445396

HL steals the Historical Importance spotlight a lot from other things.
The breastbased health and rubber arm physiced Jurassic Park: Trespasser from the week before or the groin shot driven storytelling of (N64) Golden Eye a year earlier are hardly mentioned.

Goldeneye is the big milestone for me. A lot of the things HL does, it does as well and in many cases does it better.

Fucking Zoomer. It was a revolutionary FPS for its time period, focusing on a strong narrative for 1998. Previously, there weren't as much story telling and objectives in games other than running and gunning for the PC (the closest that I can come up with is the Thief series or maybe Deus Ex but that was a few years later for that one).

If you want a shooter that is """"deep"""" combat, then you are looking in the wrong place in retro shooters before 1998.

you seem to misunderstand, it is ZOOMERS who like half life, they like it because Wikipedia says that's where all their favorite games like gmod and tf2 come from so they MUST like it, right?
most people installed half life so they could play half life: counter strike. all the hype for this game was sierra spending all their last bucks on shilling for game magazines.
incidentally, it is a great game, but by no means is it the best at anything.a

HL didn't pioneer storytelling in FPS
what exactly did HL revolutionise?

the cold, hard truth. counter-strike totally eclipsed half-life in popularity, and half-life only had a large install base because counter-strike was a half-life mod (and so required half-life to be installed)

You know RTS died because it peaked right? There was nowhere else for the RTS genre to go so it stagnated and all that's left is Starcraft 2 esports. MOBA's never killed it. Also something like Half-Life was an inevitability, if it never came along something else would've filled in that spot because it was already clear that the FPS genre was moving away from more traditional layouts like doom as the technology improved over time. The graphics were getting better, the engines were getting more sophisticated to allow for more in depth story telling and cutscenes, FPS were going to head that way eventually.

Not that guy and I don't care about this stupid thread, but I think about the history of RTS games a lot and I disagree.
I don't think they stagnated, I think *very earliest* ones were a really interesting time as they experimented with what the fuck to do with this weird borderline unplayable genre they'd stumbled onto, but then they universally went down a false maximum of codified gameplay/interface conventions prematurely and THAT turned out to be a dead end.

Definitely nothing to do with MOBAs though. Those are an offshoot; only the smoothest of brains think they even count as RTS.
HL1 meanwhile is definitely a FPS, but if there was an evolutionary problem in that area it's an artefact of lumping too many types of distinct game into one genre. Totally the opposite situation of RTS inbreeding.

HL2 is where the franchise really took a nosedive.

The sequel has nothing of the atmosphere or suspense of the original, it's half mindless shooter with extremely simple strategy, half linear missions with zero replayability.

It's a bit like they took the worst and most tedious parts of the original and expanded it. On a Rail became a couple of full blown hour-long excursions with annoying physics puzzles. Xen is now a series of mindless repetitive combats with a carnival shooter as final boss. The "interactive" expositions are now stretched out over about a dozen different tedious monologues.

At least some of the visuals are nice.

>> No.6450815

I think you guys gotta learn to frame your original hot takes with some context.

Like, both HL1 & 2 owned bones at release and this wasn't exactly a controversial opinion. The acclaim was pretty much fucking universal and I don't think I even heard anyone try to be a contrarian on that for at least a decade in each case.

Yet looking back at them today, sure. Both games have more shit that I dread than actually enjoy at this point. I replay em every few years and each time I like them a little less.
But that's just what happens when you're so influential that everyone else picks your bones clean.
Everything that stood out the most the first time around now feels like the most generic parts, and that's because they objectively are--now. But before, they weren't. Now, they are. The magical ingredient here is your own retard monkey perception and expectation.
Similarly the mistakes HL1/2 made are literally the archetypal examples of what not to do. They weren't... awesome sections, but they weren't that bad, only now everything about the conventions later design has taken __as a direct result__ has conditioned us to epitomise them as major sins.

I might even actually fucking hate these games at this point. The sound engine, particles, animation, viewmodel quirks, all of it is gross to me now and 90% of the gameplay can seriously fuck off.
But to call them BAD games I'd have to forget somehow that I have actual decades of memory of thinking the exact opposite, just like everyone else.

Zoomer youtuber fucktards I can kind of understand: your opinions aren't even your own, you lack critical context, and your brains are underdeveloped so you post anyway.
Actual adults who think their current-day perception is how they've always felt on the other hand are the kind of subhuman scum that ender wiggin did a whole metaphor on.
