Why is this piece of shit so expensive now? I thought everyone hated this thing and wanted to get rid of it.

I know the sperganon already said it but why not just use an AGS-101 model GBA SP? it's got a proper good screen at a size i don't have to squint at, and it's comfier to hold. Obviously an original-model GBA with a modded backlit screen would be the ideal formfactor tho, especially since rechargeable AA's are superior to proprietary rechargeable batteries.

If I'm staying at home though I'd rather just use GBI on my GameCube, though. Even the regular GBA's screen is very small for me and makes me strain my eyes, and I have very sensitive eyes so I'm going to prefer a big TV whenever it's possible.

I'm not a speculator though, I got it because I wanted it, and I don't care if it goes down in price later on. But even regular Micros are expensive, and Mother has the crazy cult following, so I dunno. I don't care either way, just glad I got it when it wasn't crazy expensive.

"Don't work" is a bit of stretch. It looks fine.

I better example would be the water in The Adams Family. This is the thing with the dithering argument, I think most people would agree that the blending is nice, but it isn't really that much of an issue for the games that people actually care about.

The SVP was still limited to only 64 on screen colors though. And the 32X was still far more powerful. Really the issue here is Sega was trying way too many different things all at once. You had the SVP, the 32X, and the Saturn all within a year of each other. They just needed to pick 1, maybe 2 and stick with them.

The Sega CD usually gets thrown into this but it got released years earlier and was fine really.

I think if they just added more display colors to the cd and focused on sprite games instead of fmv, it would have boomed in America the way rom^2 games did in Japan.

>The SVP was still limited to only 64 on screen colors though. And the 32X was still far more powerful.
It's not about raw power. It's about perception and cost of ownership.

SVP: can be easily spun as an add-on card, optional and nothing more.
32x: "I-Is this yet *another* new console, Sega senpai?! Too many! Too expensive! Boo!!!

One can practically market itself. The other automatically requires explanation, because to the untrained eye it *looks* like a whole new console.
