Nintendo also used to do greatest hits games for the N64 and the Gamecube, except they were called "Player's Choice". Later on it was called "Nintendo Selects" for the Wii, Wii U and 3DS. They were absent from the DS (which was nbd considering DS games were pretty cheap to begin with) and the Switch, which is kind of egregious, but I don't think the first Nintendo Selects began appearing for the Wii until almost 5 years after its release.

The Player's Choice was actually a great deal in Canada, because you used to be able to buy a Gamecube game for CAD $19.99, which was the equivalent of about $16 USD. But in the US, games were also priced at $19.99. So thanks Nintendo, for giving us cheap games despite our shitty currency.

Also, those black inserts on the thicc PAL cases are a pain in the ass to remove and replace. That black tab on the left is part of the disc tray. Greatest Hits rereleases generally have bugfixes and sometimes have extra content that was not in the original version, making them objectively the best version to own.

They're 90s but they're purposely trash 90s. When they used designs and colours like that back then it was for the purpose of conveying "this is cheap" to cater to the trailer trash psyche. The problem with PS1 green labels is that the game maybe an objectively superior version of the game, as it either patches bugs or adds new features like analog support. tbf that is a thing companies do. think of something like pic related. the purpose of branding it like that isn't just to make it share the supermarket's colourscheme, etc. it's also to give the impression that it's cheap. (even if for some products there was a brand name option for the same price as the store brand).
for tesco value it worked too well and it became synonymous with cheap and not very good, so now they try to look a bit more upmarket.

- Final Fantasy Anthology (fixed garbled FFV save screen bug when playing on PS2)
- Gran Turismo (tweaked stats and suspension settings for some cars, menu text corrections, slightly changed names for two Honda Civic prize cars)
- Gran Turismo 2 (various bug fixes and menu text corrections, can now reach 100% completion)
- Jet Moto 2 (rebranded in-game as 'Jet Moto 2 - Championship Edition', all Jet Moto 1 levels are all unlocked straight away, higher and more consistent framerate at the cost of fewer in-game racers)
- Mortal Kombat Trilogy (most recent release with the most bug-fixes but also introduces some new bugs of its own)
- Oddworld - Abe's Oddysee (various bug fixes, some very slight graphical touch-ups, Abe's Exoddus promo, removed 'The Shrink' FMV in cutscene viewer)
- Spyro - Year of the Dragon (restored Evening Lake and Sorceress' Lair level themes, unique themes for all levels that reused music in original black label version except Harbor Speedway, restored 'Spike is Born' cutscene, fixed speedway egg glitch)
- The Lost World - Jurassic Park - Special Edition (increased health/defense for player characters, new opening T-Rex level, level select codes)
