I'm sorry to hear that. My grandparents saved all my GamePro, Nintendo Power, Playstation, and Game Informer magazines in plastic bins. I imagine many of these must have been scanned already somewhere, right?

As someone who does do this, I have to say it’s fun but know what you’re getting into and why you’re getting into it. Certain magazines like gamefan are stupid expensive.

I had a bunch of magazines and water and flood damage got to them.

I don't really buy, but I still have a bunch of old magazines from when I was a kid. Club nintendo (latin america) was my favorite, it was the one that had the best design/layout IMO. Always a pleasure to browse throw the pages of the different issues I have. Sometimes I'd download issues I used to have and no longer got, and it's also a great nostalgia exercise, but nothing like the real deal.
I also have a couple posters that came with these magazines.
Nice cover there OP, GITS on the PS1 is a masterpiece of a game.

My mom got into the "minimalist" lifestyle while I was in my last year of high school. I ignored the warning signs and went off to university thinking nothing of it. When I came back home for the summer, she had thrown out ALL the boxes and manuals for my SNES and N64. She also threw out our JVC CRT and my huge Viewsonic CRT monitor, my first PC (our Power Macintosh, though, miraculously survived) along with a ton of my papers, which included years' worth of drawings and sketches.

I was furious, not necessarily because the stuff had monetary value (though it certainly would have now), but because I felt it was a callous violation of my property. Before second year started, I collected the rest of my things and moved out of my parents' house permanently. It's been 10 years and I'm still pissed off when I think about it.

It's a masterpiece, but yeah I can understand how it'd be disappointing for people who watched the movie back the and wanted to take control of the Major and play a sort of 3rd person action game.
The GITS game wasn't even based on the movie, it's an original story, and was based on the manga. Fuchikomas don't even appear on the movie.
However, the GITS game is super unique, and it's cool how you're actually a rookie under the command of the major.

I still regret throwing out all the first 2 years of Nintendo Power back then because I had to move. The thing was I still kept all the EGMs and Diehard Gamefan subscriptions. My local used book store gets in newer Nintendo Power issues, but unlike other periodicals, they price them higher. I think I did see they had one of the older ones I threw out long ago, the owne with a Megaman 2 cover, for double digits which was way too much. Funny thing, it sold at the outrageous $22USD. It is hard to justify a magazine for more than the price of the games it covers. I cannot imagine it is more fun doing so from ebay.

It may be their house, but it's my stuff. I own it. Parents don't have the right to do whatever they want with the possessions of their adult children. I'm sorry, but that is a fucked-up viewpoint. If they don't want my stuff in their house anymore, then they are certainly entitled to demand that I get it out. But I'm also entitled to reasonable notice. I don't see it as acceptable that you could just come home at the end of any day and find a bare room because "lol we decided you don't need that anymore". Which is exactly why I voted with my feet and permanently moved out after that incident.

>>6417994
That is tragic, I'm sorry for your loss.

My friend's younger brother sold his copies of Chrono Trigger and Earthbound for weed money. In the grand scheme of things it's so small, but their relationship was never the same after that. Partially because of a fundamental breach of trust, partially because my friend beat his brother until he bled.

Nintendo's official magazine in Australia was schizophrenic as fuck. The review section was blatant shilling for people to buy any and all N64 game with almost every game getting a good review, but the letter section was insanely un-family friendly with adult humour responses and lots of drawings sent in by kids of shit like Mario ripping the flesh off Sonic and Crash Bandicoot and turning them into lumps of squirting blood.

kek, got any scans of that?
the drawings of Mario VS Sonic doing fatalities to each other were common in some magazines, but the official Nintendo magazine here (Club Nintendo) was definitely devoid of any of that shit, they just barely mentioned the competition, almost never. Curiously, I have one issue with some drawings sent by kids, just 3 drawings, and one of them had many characters from nintendo and also some others like EWJ and also Sonic. So they weren't completely anal about the competition either.
