Is the music country and or banjo at least?

>> No.6409875

I like it. It's like a contrast between the old world and the future. You've got this hillbilly with a banjo sitting in his rugged shack while this super high tech spaceship goes by. It's like when Picard goes back to his home in France and you get that contrast of all the futuristic shit in the background.

Phalanx is still the reigning champion in retarded packaging. It's nostalgic, but it's not clear that's a ship, and even thought there's text mentioning that it's a shooter, kids back then were too concerned that an old fart was on a video game cartridge and mostly avoided it like the plague.

Video games were primarily marketed towards little kids back then, especially young boys. What do you think is more likely... Do you think an average 10,11,12,13 year old boy that is going out to buy a video game is going to read and put great thought into his purchase? Or do you think they might just buy the game with the coolest pictures on the box?

Toys R Us used to keep the games in a separate area. They front and maybe back covers were just laminated and hanging against the wall at various heights. Other places kept the games locked up as well.

I've thought about that myself recently. Rather than an old man living on Earth and discovering a spaceship I'd rather it be something like a colonized planet in the far future with rustic, antiquated for its time but still space-age compared to present technology, and the old man has spent years repairing a crashed spaceship as a hobby. Aliens suddenly attack, the old man decides he's lived a full life and he flies off to defend his world. Give it quick interludes between levels showing snippets of the man's life and a bittersweet ending where the man sacrifices himself to defeat the final boss and life just goes on with only close friends and family remembering him, the rest of the world just continuing on as they would.
