Yep, I'm thinking it's based

I dont know that are there are any actual good games on it.

>> No.6387303

>1999 - NeoRAGEx emulator runs everything on potato PC's except for a few new releases by '99 which get dumped and decrypted shortly after.

>2003 - SNK goes bankrupt and tried to come back as SNK Playmore. Starts making emulations of the earliest NeoGeo games to fund KoF and make a come back.

>2004 - Nebula and now Kawaks with online play through Kaillera become the standard as arcades are becoming a thing of the past.

>2008 - SNK Arcade Classics with the shittiest earliest versions of their games continues to be their strategy to make more KoF.

>2016 - Playmore dies and returns once again as just SNK. They release more of the first shitty batch of NeoGeo games to fund more KoF and eventually a new Samurai Shodown.

AES isn't based or worth shit.

Mark of the Wolves is damn awesome and still hasn't been topped, but this hardware and the carts ain't shit but a novelty for rich collectorfags.

>> No.6387698

The Neo Geo AES wasn't meant to directly compete with the Super Famicon and the Mega Drive in the same way Ferrari doesn't directly compete with Honda and Mitsubishi.

Yes, it was expensive as hell and had a limited support, because it was a console for arcade enthusiasts, not a product for mass consumption.

i would say at least 90% of the games are super fun to play...i suggest using emulators though as the neo geo aes is one of the most retardedly expensive consoles to collect for regardless of region...the neo geo x is pretty ok to play on too but not perfect by a longshot

>> No.6387898

First crop of games were just pretty SNES games. Things didn't get notably good until they hit their stride with fighters. Other genres picked up around that time too.

And yes, I've been playing the NeoGeo since it first hit the arcades and have owned one (now 3) ever since I got a boner for KOF94.

I think that it's based too. Had a great time playing Neo Geo games at the laundromat when I was young. Parents wanted to buy one of the home consoles for me badly, but was po without the -or. Now, I purchased that cheap neo Geo mini for $30 with two wrong button-mapped controllers for it. Oh well, rewarding myself with a risk that I'm willing to take since everyone has been criticizing it for being cheap quality.

This is why when shit like this arises, you gotta jump on it immediately.
I grew up with a hoarder mother who had no issues throwing away my shit or my father's shit in lieu of her own, even though her collection of figurines and knickknacks is and was utterly worthless.
Rare computer equipment from the 70's and early 80's? Stacks of platters with who knows what on them? Thrown away while I was on a week long vacation.
Yes I'm mad, even decades later.

My wife used to be the same way. Started off just throwing away other peoples stuff shit she didn't like. When I told her to stop she switched to nagging constantly. So I told her that if she ever complained about someone elses things I was going to pack up all her figurines and pictures and whatever the fuck else she has cluttering up every shelf in the house and trash it all. Bitch hasn't said a word about other peoples shit for 20 years. Next fathers day get your dad pic related.

Roasties only respond to money. Did you tell her that she threw several grand in the trash for no reason?

My favorite of these stories is when I had a friend buy some arcade cabinets for me and I'd drop by to pick them up in a few days for a markup. Well, the day didn't even end before his wife called a disposal company to take them away behind his back, and threw a fit when I wouldn't pay them several grand for the things she paid to have thrown away.
She even agreed to the plan before he bought them.

Bruh any kid who knew anything about vidya back then knew how how much these things cost and how unlikely it was to know anyone who had it, we absolutely would have been in awe of that setup and played the shit out of it.

Fuck, man, back then people were still happy to fuck around with any console of any kind, master system, C64, whatever. We were practically brazilian in our indiscriminate ability to enjoy pretty much anything.
