Ah yes, Mortal Kombat's grandfather. The arcade version while looking really dated holds up in terms of gameplay, but the home ports all blow chunks, with the worst version being the Atari Lynx one.
Back in the day that was in just about every arcade and it got a lot of play, made a ton of money mostly because it was edgy. And it pushed the boundaries of what constitutes a video game in that it's maybe the first time photorealistic characters derived from actual photos were used in a video game. It deserves some respect, the arcade original at least.

I like both the arcade and the snes version of this game despite the fact that I was never able to finish either.

I don't think that's ever been said about Pit Fighter. Impressive.

Based facts. Pit fighter was always one of the games I hit up at the arcade.

>Pit fighter was always one of the games I hit up at the arcade
Any serious arcade had Pit Fighter because it was cutting edge and fun. It really pulled off the funkyness they were going for, in some funky arcades sometimes too, which were the best ones..
Those were the days. I remember tents at the fair set up with games and that was one of them always right next to Rampart, Spy Hunter, and Truxton.

My nostalgia for this is with the Genesis version. Posting the amiga version of the song though because I've come to discover some game music sounds better on that console apparently. Buzz FTW

It's looked kinda off back then, but I think it's due to how they picked the individual frames from the source video for their final sprites. It results in some very awkward poses and movements. Seems like MK was the first "digi" fighter to get that really right with the poses and all.

My bro and I would play the shit out of pit fighter. One of our babysitters would come over and bring his pit fighter cart and we would play for hours. (He knew the genesis could be our babysitter.) He let us borrow his cart one of the last times he babysat us and he never got it back. Sadly, I think either my bro or I sold it so we could buy Playstation games.

I unironically enjoyed the Mega Drive version a lot. Much more even than the first Mortal Kombat.

The console ports were pretty off but at least the difficulty was manageable, I don't even understand how you're supposed to play the arcade game, it feels like you can't do jack about anything except take the hit and feed another credit

>> No.6388363

>>6385076
Problem is like what some here mentioned, the console ports suck. The arcade game is decent. So there just isn't much to go on here. I would like to see it revived though.

That happens with a lot of ports too. I always found the three Mortal Kombats to be more fun to play on console than the arcade originals.

>> No.6390176

>>6388363
I gave it a shot in the arcade, then I tried one of the console ports which was definitely disappointing. I'd be interested to see what they could do with a revival.
