Not really, that game was pretty shitty compared to other sunset games.

By (some of the ) creators of Gimmick! on NES.

It wouldn't be a Parish video without miserably failing at fact checking. Classic Jeremy. I still like his videos though.

Wouldn't a European Wii U cost more than a Japanese 3DS?

>> No.6363517

>>6363514
It'd be a European 3DS, as Gameboy games only were released on that, not Wii U.

Ah, ok. The last locked computer I got was a PS3 because I wanted more Raiden/Vamp

Also, it wasn't so locked at the time. I could install Yellow Dog Linux under a hypervisor with very limited hardware access that resulted in emulated Mario leaving a trail of ghost pixels.

Yep, it's a modern game alright.

>30 year old games are "modern" games
Would you call a game made in 2020 "retro" if it fit some arbitrary design aesthetic?

>> No.6363839

>>6363834
Not that poster, but I would. I call old games "vintage".

I tend to prefer new retro games over vintage games because they're more about gameplay than graphical gimmicks and they don't constantly get slow if I'm not careful to manage sprites.

>> No.6363917

>>6363834
If it was made for a vintage console, then absolutely. If someone ported Skyrim to the Dreamcast then it would absolutely be retro.

I lost all respect for Jeremy Parish when he shat on Metroid II and called it a subpar sequel. He fashions himself some sort of expert on retro gaming but fuck him.

Well, he has been doing video game critique, articles, and general commentary since the late 90s and early 2000s so that's not a surprise at all.
