Is that shit about them trying to localize it as "Sister Sonic" really true? It sounds completely made up and I haven't seen any proof, most places that mention it seem kinda unreliable

>> No.6349696

The guy who voiced the comic relief character made the localization for me. He put 110% into the part.

Has anybody played any of the other versions besides the Sega CD one? I've played the Super Famicom and PC Engine CD versions in addition to the Sega CD version, its like different developers were given the same design specs and told to make the game on their own, very weird and interesting experience.

I can list a bunch of English sources tha tsay this, but you are right it's a good question to ask sometimes "what the hell is this based on?". Sometimes people just make up a rumor and then people repeat it and repeat it and then there's so many people repeating it, so now it's a fact.

So the best sources would all be Japanese gaming magazines from 1993. EGM reportd the story and they would have just have been repeating what was in Japanese mags. So EGM is the ground zero for English sources. Let's see if we can find something earlier?

The Sega retro page and says page 103 of Beep covers this. I believe this is the page here. Anyone can read it?

http://info.sonicretro.org/Sister_Sonic

This is what Yandex says:

>Sister Sonic (chubby Mayle, SCD) )

>MAIL is a sonic character !

>Based on "Boku, Buru MEIL", Sonic family's first female (?) ARPG where the main character, Sister Sonic, appears. But Sister Sonic is not a cute character like mail, but a bigger sister . Coquettish of course the story also written down according to the character . The action is further enhanced than the original, and the animation and sound voice of the unique CD-ROM game is perfect. At the same time as overseas, Japanese subtitles are also available in Japan.

>It is expected to launch John.

>By the way, the original version of BOP Meir is

>In the Elf of the girl, the Meir of the prize gold earner unfolds adventure play ARPG. Mae'r cyfarwyddwr Cymru wedi dweud y byddai'n cael ei ddefnyddio'n gyfrifol am y TRO cyntaf. I feel that it is nice to make it like a Japanese Falcom, and I feel that I made it to increase the action further than the ARPG so far.

I've played Sega CD, Super Famicom, and a bit of the PC-98 version. Sega CD was my favorite, but I'd like to play the PC Engine CD version, it looks cool. SFC version was the most different, still pretty fun but I didn't like it as much.

This seems to confirm it, or at least say it's something that EGM didn't make up.

The game was originally for the PC-98 and the PC-Engine CD is very close to that version and just way better scrolling and other enhancements. I believe the SFC and SCD versions are outsourced and are full remakes which is why they're so different.

My gut feeling says the PCE-CD version is likely the best. I've tried SCD and Mail has way too much momentum like she's on ice and the sprites are too big.

Don't forget how working designs rebalanced the game so that you need to savescum like a fucking PC game.

Small nitpick: It was originally for PC-88, with the PC-98 version coming out a bit later.

The Sega CD version was made by Sega and Falcom members together ("Sega Falcom")

Yes, they increased enemy damage MASSIVELY. Like 2x in many cases. It is retarded and makes the game complete garbage. It is like one of those stupid checkpoint based indie games where you die a million times on the same segment, but have infinite continues.

On the romhacking forums there is an un-Working designs romhacks that removes the changes they made. Why the forums? They refuse to submit it. Dunno why.
