After playing on an american style arcade cabinet for Alpha 2 I respect anyone who can use these sticks. I legit couldn't do basic special moved when I could normally do actual combos in most games. For me personally american style fightsticks feel like shit.

they require perfect precision, and if you have it, it will out do any stick mechanically due to having higher flexibility and deeper caves in the buttons. ive played across country on every type of stick and cabinet imaginable, not a single thing comes close to a MAS stick's execution for faster games, that is if you yourself are fast enough.

Well if you want “the arcade experience at home”. And you are actually old enough to remember what American arcades were like, then this is as close as you can get to it. I never understood the obsession with using Japanese arcade parts. They say that they’re better (I’m guessing smaller too) but if it’s incongruous to any arcade machine you’ve ever touched. So what’s the point? “Wow! This Fighting Stick is just like the ones at the arcade I’ve never been too!”

they dont use their sticks as a way to "practice". Their sticks is how they play games in general, tournaments use original PCBs, but not the whole cabinet, each person uses their own stick

when you are not at a tournament, you play on your home, using whatever you feel like. If you like american style arcade sticks good for you, but you aren't ever gonna be forced to use them. It isn't an obsession with japanese parts, but fightstick manufacturers are overwhelmingly japanese, so must people simply buy from them

There was a time when they were reliably the best stick you could buy for many if not most platforms but that was twenty five years ago. People flexing them in 2020 are doing it for retro cred.

I'm sure most everyone who gives a shit about fighting games is already familiar with this channel, but here is a short video essay about fighting sticks. The most interesting point is that arcade sticks were originally used as an input method for industrial machines, and that these sticks were repurposed for games, not designed for games

It's mostly the parts since they used. Since they were made when American parts were actually good like the Wico Perfect 360, which are stupid rare these days because MvC2 autist love hoarding them. Also people just have a hard on for wood sticks.
