>Season 24: Episode 1 (#297) Akumajou Dracula X: Chi no Rondo (Castlevania: Rondo of Blood) {PC Engine Super CD} premieres
on Thursday, April 16th.

>This episode includes the first installment of The Hall of Fortune-Telling Games, in which Arino's fate is divined.

Woah! I figured they were gonna space out the Castlevania episodes much more. They only have Super and Symphony after this. Also the two N64 games.

>> No.6333879

>>6333618
Super would be very fun to watch, I can already imagine Kacho getting into game over hell around stage 8, but eventually he could beat the game in an epic finale.
SOTN I dunno if I want to see, RPG games aren't fun in GCCX's format, linear action games are more fun. Whenever he'd get stuck in a game like SOTN; the ADs could just tell Arino where to get certain weapon or spell to overcome whatever challenge he might get into.
Would be fun to see him play CV64 though. Although I'm not sure if he could beat it.

Trips and segments are shot months in advance. Challenges are only shot like a month or two before, and they still need staff to edit everything into episodes afterwards. They might only have the first few episodes of the season ready to go.

2 parts for Chi no Rondo!? That seems pretty nuts. Either they're milking it because it's a legit classic (it was one of PC Engine's most popular games and part of a big well known series) or Arino somehow got into difficulties. There's almost an overwhelming amount of episodes to choose from. The recommendation list >>6334292 is handy for breaking down a lot of episodes by category, like if Arino had fun on a hard game or had to deal with some crazy terrible game.

You can also pick an episode where he plays whatever your favorite game is, but that's sometimes frustrating to watch if he's hopelessly bad at it.

#13 Tokimeki Memorial and #34 Ghouls'n Ghosts are probably what I'd give to someone who's never watched any episodes before.

Theonly thing you miss out are on Arino's snide comments and sarcasm, which have actually made me laugh a few times. This won't work on a game you don't know though. Not the anon you are arguing with, but this is a board solely about a medium that at least 50% of the material came from Japan. If the board was dedicated to some medium where at least half the material came from the Netherlands, you would probably see some people saying "Man, I wish I knew Dutch." If you are trying to base the value of Japanese on utility value, it's completely useless outside of Japanese media. Spanish is useful in large chunks of the world. So by that metric, knowing japanese wouldn't be superior to knowing spanish.

You may notice that this is pretty much the only place where people who know japanese spend more time bragging about it than using it. Because this is the only website where people are pathetic enough to think learning a language is a great achievement, despite the majority of the world speaking 2 or more.

You're correct, Spanish is useful in many parts of the world. How many of us will ever travel to one of them? How many of us will ever leave the tourist areas, or realistically encounter situations in which there's nobody around who knows English? Even in Tokyo these days you can get by fine with just English, most people know enough to take your money.

The value of a language is in its cultural output, not in talking to bums. You can go all over the world, know what conversations you'll get? "Where are you from?", "Why did you come here?", "Have you tried *LOCAL DELICACY* yet?", "Have you seen *LOCAL TOURIST ATTRACTION* yet?". People are fucking boring, and most of them speak English anyway.

Non-nasal Japanese phonemes end with a vowel sound. That's just how their language works.

Their basic i and u sounds are less drawn out than the other vowels, so loanwords that would've ended with a consonant in the language of origin would usually end instead with kind of a half-heard i or u sound in Japanese.

> Quiz Nanairo Dreams: Miracle in Rainbow Village

I'm preferential to these 3D (or fake 3D) adventure games and quiz games rather than test of skill games. I like to see Arino plan things out with drawing maps and trying to figure out where to go. mansio of Lost Souls is ruined because there's literally a mirror that tells you where to go next and the AD or director should hav ebanned that .

>Adventure Island
Gotta love watching Arino take on one of the hardest platformers around and getting torn apart by it.
>Battletoads
He has a lot of fun with it, despite it not being a puzzle game.
>Sonic the Hedgehog
His increasing hatred of hearing "SEGA" every time he got a game over, and Nakayama's introduction never stop being funny.
>Lemmings 24Hr Live show
For pic related alone if nothing else.
>Jogging Race or Nosferatu
Both are funny as fuck really.

1 and 2 could be played together in a single episode.
The others are of a fair challenge length.

Fitting because Ys 1-2 got released for the PCE-CD on a single cd. And I noticed that the show doesn't have a PCE-CD, rather they have the turbo duo the later ugly system.

That's dried squid pieces. It's a collab product since he eats a bunch of it on the show, I assume. There are other varieties.

I'm sure it's possible, but I doubt anyone's going anywhere until there's a covid vaccine. It might be a couple years before they do another big trip.

>Ninja Gaiden/Ryukenden
It's one of the games that he really pushes himself to win and one of the episodes where he and the crew really came together to help him. the last boss fight is the most kino thing to happen in the show that i literally cheered for them.

>Legend of the river king 2
one of the comfiest episodes by far and all he does is fishing in it. it also gets surprisingly tense when he finally found the river king or even any fish to catch.

>Hokkaido Serial Murders: Disappear in Okhotsk
it's an actually hilarious episode despite being a detective game ep. I've always had a soft spot for detective games but this managed to come in a full package of pulp, drama and comedy. also Arino abusing the "check here" command on a showgirl's tits and a surprise visit from Yuji Horii

>Takeshi's Challenge
It's probably the shortest and funniest challenge but basically prompted the show to change their format in the next season and for good reason. It's insane that he even managed to beat this game in 5 hours since most would just dump this in the garbage for less than an hour.

>Clock Tower
Probably the best puzzle/survival horror ep he played in a while (i havent seen the Biohazard ep yet) and it's interesting to see his take on the game itself. He managed to get into parts they don't normally show

hell night would be a good sequel to play for clock tower. it's like 3D first person clock tower.
