I can kind of respect his out there storytelling as you can see he gets to express the story he wants to tell. But boy does need a no man.
I think I remember reading that Kojima during the development of MGS had someone tell him that some of his ideas were just a bit too much.

>I think I remember reading that Kojima during the development of MGS had someone tell him that some of his ideas were just a bit too much.

Yeah Kojima had some modest hits under his belt but he wasn't a super star. Thus he would have had Konami execs above him would veto some of his ideas. 20 years of hits led to him getting a blank check and that resulted in Death Stranding. Having an editor is really important and keeps you grounded.

That was your first mistake. No, this is actually a sequel that takes place afterwards in another timeline. The timelines have been altered and Time Ghosts are there to fix it, but you murder them making destiny up in the air. It's a blunt tool for Nomura to mess with the series.

To be fair, it's unclear what Sephiroth's endgame is. He could very well be tricking them into creating a timeline where he can win.
The ghosts fix anything that goes wrong both good or bad (such as when Sephiroth stabs Barret)

>> No.6318228

>>6318216
>timestream

So we don't know how these rules work but yes it seems that this has nothign to do with Jenova or the Lifestream, the two supernatural beings introduced into the series so far. I fully imagine we see that Sephiroth from a timeline gained access to the End of Creation, which is the end of time and you can view everything. He'll probably give Cloud and Co a speech about how he's seen himself be defeated over and over again. He thus decided to change things.

>> No.6318236

>>6318226
Wait, Barret dies in this? Is that the big twist I've heard about?

>> No.6318237

won't lie, I think the time ghost shit is actually really cool and it's very funny to watch Nomura dab on remake retards

>> No.6318269

>>6318236
You'd think so, but no. During the Shinra assault, Sephiroth stabs Barret, but one of the time ghosts resurrects him.
The actual twist is more... Nomura. At the end of the highway sequence, a barrier is created (from the Time Ghosts?) which leads into a weird space with a Time Ghost monster. Said monster shows the party visions as they fight it, including Red XIII running through a field from VII's ending/Advent Children. They defeat it, and are teleported to a pocket deimnsion where Sephiroth shows up and the game basically turns into Advent Children. Sephiroth takes Cloud to the Edge of Creation and asks him to defy destiny with him. Cloud rejects him, they fight a bit and Sephiroth whispers some cryptic shit to Cloud before vanishing. The party, upon returning back to the real world, decides to hunt down Sephiroth and stop him. Also, the at some point, there's a flashback to Zack reaching Midgar with Cloud only to find it swarming with Time Ghosts and getting jumped by Shinra troops. During the ending, it cuts back to Zack who survives his fight and the time ghosts surrounding Midgar vanish. It's implied that this is an alternate timeline (maybe a flashback depending on how you take the rain), but Zack and Aerith seem to sense each other.
Also, Biggs lives
That's generally what happens. May have messed up on the Giant time ghost monster thing, but the ending part should be accurate.

>>6318285
nah, i think it's pretty cool. sephiroth is now a sort of anti-hero because default ending was rather ambiguous about what happens to humanity in the end, that ending with nature retaking everything was always a point of contention with the fanbase - has been for over 20 years

>> No.6318310

>>6318269

It appears to be another timeline and for whatever reason the timelines are just out of synch. Zack Lives Timeline seems like 2 weeks behind, while this remake timeline is 23 years behind the FF7 timeline.

I didn't but that's what most people compare the scene to. It does feel very over-the-top regardless.

I personally don't see what's exciting about remaking a game, when the original game is known for its story. I've played FF7 a lot and playing a straight remake of it sounds boring to me as an adult even though it's something I wanted a lot as a kid. I'm now more interested knowing that the story might be different.
