I have a 32" Trinitron I use for my retro consoles and the TV stand I have been using for ages for it finally bit the dust. I have been searching everywhere but haven't had any luck finding a new TV stand that can hold this beast of a CRT weighing about 170 lbs Does anyone know of decent TV stand I can buy online that will hold this TV?

>>6305820
I don't think you're gonna find any new TV stand able to hold that thing up. Your best bet would probably be to look at older furniture or to build it yourself. You could put in on top of cinder blocks.

pay for a costumized stand, might be more expensive but with the right materials it could last decades.

You're either looking at craigslist or an equivalent for old stands people are trying to get rid of, or you're going to be calling around to your local furniture stores and seeing if they have anything that meets those specs. If you go for the latter option, expect to pay several hundred dollars.

New? IDK I got my tempered glass tv stand from Big Lots, way back in the late90s/early2000s. It's ugly as fuck, but IIRC it's rated for something like 250pounds. And my 36" Toshiba was damn near that.

Start checking offerup, goodwill and craigslist. If you see one with a front metal bar supporting the top glass, it'll probably do the trick. Remember, all the weight and I mean all the weight is on the front of the tube. Keep that in mind, when shopping around.

>>6305921
>not using an actual tree stump
An actual tree stump would be pretty based anon, but it'd probably weigh four times more than the shitty tv.

>> No.6306067

Most TV stands will hold 200 pounds. If it doesn't seem like total garbage it should be fine. If you want something fairly cheap that you can be absolutely sure will hold it get an AV cart.

>> No.6306115

Build it yourself or pay someone too, it’s worth the investment and time if you plan to keep it for years and years to come. On top of that you can have it look the way you want to YOUR liking and specs.

Or you can check the used markets such as Craigslist or OfferUp, there’s probably something there, but it’s old out of date furniture, idk I think it will make your way on look uglier desu.

The fact that it is front heavy is definitely something I will keep in mind while looking, thanks for that tip.

If you don't mind MDF garbage, best buy has some ~200lb capacity tv stands for about $200. Non-MDF real wood ones are $600+.

Yeah no prob. Way back when I had my 27" I never gave a second thought to how heavy the front was, but I remember very vividly just how heavy the front was on that 36". I remember we tried to carry it up the steps with the screen facing down because of how heavy it was, but had to carry it uproght because the stairway wasn't wide enough. It was a real fucker and I'm pretty damn sure I jammed my fingers between the front of the tv and the wall trimming. Having said that, I'm just happy I don't live in an earthquake zone or had small children around, because I never trusted it. I always felt like if something hits it the wrong way, it's going to tip forward and crush whatever is bellow. They really should have designed the son of a bitch with an anchoring bolt.

I always find it hilarious when people search for the wrong thing because they have it in their head that that's what they should be searching for. They haven't made TVs this size/weight in ages champ, so haven't made stands for them. It's sort of like if you were looking for a horse and keep coming up blank when searching for single seat vehicle. Try looking for something that looks like an old TV stand, supports things as heavy as an old TV stand, and quacks like an old TV stand but isn't called a TV stand.
None of my CRTs are on "TV stands". One is on a dresser, another is on some deep office shelves. Both of these have the advantage of being able to be closed, which protects my toys from light and dust and my cock from virginity.

so bestbuy used to sell a tv stand that could hold up to 250 pounds and was triple tier. it was glass and slightly inverted as it went up. fucking awesome, i tried buying it 3 times for 200 dollars but every single time the shitty ups center near me would absolutely destroy it to the point where it never even got delivered to my door and they would just inform me that it was destroyed and they're sending a new one. eventually i got tired of that so i made bestbuy give me 50 bucks in credit.

a few days after all that i ended up paying some guy 200 bucks for a sony kv-36fv310 in absolute perfect condition with stand(as perfect as it can get). had to drive an hour away, sliced my finger open while carrying it, and paid two junkies to carry it to the second floor for 40 bucks. all in all very worth it.

i think i took the pic in 2015 and i've since greatly changed my setup. even so i've got no reason to explain anything to you and i think you're on teh wrong board to even say that something like "you have outdated as fuck technology being displayed and used". like you're fucking retarded if you think this board is supposed to have 2020 tech. The bose speakers are insanely bumping, the receiver is dope af for the time. the monitor is a BVM. the only thing i'd say is outdated even for that time is the LCD which is if i remember correctly 2012 or 13. it really doesn't matter bc i know the setup was dope af and served my needs.

Jesus kid, have you never even seen a CRT? They're like a gazillion times deeper than an LCD. Even a thin 32" CRT will be hanging off the edge of the deepest zoomer TV stand. A thick one will be nearly twice as deep as the average one. Back to le tiktok fukwit.
