In Gothic you play a new prisoner in a huge prison colony filled with strange hostile creatures and other prisoners and everyone is a weirdo or a dick, usually both.

Instead of simply killing you, many of your opponents leave you in the dust half-dead, rob all your money and weapons you dropped and insult you for being poor and/or weak.

Likewise you can do the same to them if you're strong enough.
Some especially huge assholes can be beaten and insulted on a daily basis even.

"You already beaten and robbed me. What else do you want?"
"I just want to slap your shit again, so hold still for a moment."
"Man, please don't do this."
