Anyone ever come across this problem with a PVM? See pic.

I recently picked up a PVM-8045Q and using S-Video the colors are messed up, specifically blue. If I switch it to blue only it looks almost like an old analog TV station that needs to be fine tuned.

Using component, it is perfect. Using composite it still has the problem but very little.

I tried simple things like cleaning the connector & reflowing the solder on it, played with the color gain adjustments, etc... to no avail. I'm generally good at troubleshooting simple electronics but this is beyond my ability

I figured I'd ask here since us retro gamers are really the only ones still using these snd thought someone might have had a similar problem.

Hmmm have you tried connecting another console over s-video like N64 or PS1?

The back doesn't have any colors. The light mostly comes from the front of a TV.

I guess it would be possible to connect the console to another console directly over S-Video but I wouldn't be able to see anything at all then and I'm worried what they might say to one another.

Congratulations on wasting your money on a pvmeme.

It's to keep on a desk for testing old games and 8 bit computers moron, not for playing Mario Brothers from 9 feet away.

I have. Same deal. I've connected them to another PVM with s-video and they work just fine.

Paid $10 for it, so didn't waste much. And it looks perfect using component.

Nigga, Google and download the service manual.

I did. The service manual covers adjustments not troubleshooting. Something in the s-video circuit is likely bad.

The picture I posted isn't that good to show it, but it looks like the convergence is way off, (the blue is a little off to the right) but it isn't otherwise it would look the same using other inputs.

When the blue only mode is on the picture looks like it's jumping around slightly...like it's not "tuned" properly.

This is how it looks using component

Have you tried it with a less evil game? I'm not saying your problem is ghosts or demonic interference necessarily but it's usually one of the first things I like to eliminate when I'm trouble shooting.

I tried this on another monitor and the s-video was working fine.

The connections could be the culprit. It was for me, if you don't have terminators on the output connections it can mess the colours up.

I don't know what that means. Are you talking about the ends of the cables? I cut those off and soldered the wires directly to the TV for maximum S-Videos.

They're perfect if you want a small crt to put on a desk for testing purposes. Composite, s-video, & component...for $10. Why would you care what I spend my money on, especially since it suits the purpose I needed it for?

Don't like 'em, don't buy 'em.
