6292216 No.6292216 [Reply] [Original]

I'm stuck indoors with the quarantine, so I've been playing a lot of ActRaiser on the SNES and Quackshot on the Genesis on my PS Classic outfitted with RetroArch. I'm looking to explore the 16 bit era some more. What are some good 16 bit games besides the obvious recommendations like Mario World and Sonic 2?

Christ you came in clutch. Never heard of Legend of the Mystical Ninja, so I'll check that out. I have most of the other games on your list already, definitely going to have to check out SimCity though. Does it use a mouse cursor, and if so, is it actually bearable? I couldn't play SimCity 2000 on the PSX because trying to move that cursor with a dpad was unbearable.

Sunset Riders SNES > Genesis
Hyperstone Heist > Turtles in Time

On the Genesis I recently came across this game called Atomic Runner/Chelnov. It's better than the Arcade version and I highly recommend it. Shits nice and for some odd reason, most of Data East games were legitimate on the Genesis. Especially Mega Turrican. And any Konami produced game except for Sunset Riders and Double Dribble (good music though). Treasure also have classics on there, including a 4 player fighting battle game yu yu hakusho. There's a recent English translated rom/patch to it somewhere out there. Shoot em ups, arcade sport games on there are pretty good. And if you have an everdrive cartridge check out some of the homebrew games.

On SNES I recommend hearing these other Nintendo heads.

>>6292421
I like this comparison, but I love Bloodlines more than SC4. Again, great comparison none of the less. Let's you know who has played with both sides of the world (Consoles) and have an eye for good games.

I got one years ago that is unfortunately missing a ton of games. Lots of weird choices too, it was more like a mix of popular games/games the uploader only heard about. You're best off doing your own research. Look up genres, find games that sound cool look em up real fast, top 10, 20, 50 etc lists. You'll see a lot of the same games but you'll bump into a few cool titles. If you start putting time into trying to find the games you want to play on the system you'll naturally become more invested in it and have a desire to play it more, so it works out if you do the work yourself.
