is this legit? https://pastebin.com/a7Ge30SK
Was the first part completely retranslated? And what's in the premium disc? I never played the game and I'm interested in trying them out.

I don't know how much of the first game was RE translated but the Japanese version was edited so the games could carry over save data.

The premium disc was like some kind of extra battle museum mode extra deal.

How's Saturn emulation these days? My Saturn has a bollocked up laser motor but I think I could bear to play a turn based game on a good emulator.

Ionno. I've been using pseudo for a good long while. have you considered one of those internal emulators like Pheobe? I heard those work pretty okay.

Yes, the first game had some changes made to the original storyline to make it more self-contained for a western release. They pretty much knew that there was no chance of the second and third games being released outside of Japan at that point so they gave part 1 a much more satisfying ending and removed a cliff-hanger.

Saturn emulation is good enough to play these games without a flaw. I used SSF many years ago and played all three translated with pretty much no major issues. Give it a shot! I hope you enjoy them, I'm playing through the entire trilogy right now in fact. Just finished the patched Scenario 1 and about to start Scenario 2 in english.

I played scenario 1 way back when and it didn't really stand out to me. In fact I can barely remember anything about it. Are the other scenarios better?

Finished all 3 scenarios in english on Beetle Saturn. Yes it's legit, but script is bland af. Dunno if the japanese version is the same. Game is cool, but I still prefer the 16-bit ones.

Yeah but if you didn't like the first one I don't know what you expect to get out of these.

Premium Disk includes some model viewer, artwork and a bunch of battles to fight with the save data you have from Scenarios 1, 2 or 3.

And as far as I know the translation patch is pretty good, playing through Scenario 2 at the moment and it's all working fine.

What was the ending on the original? I doubt they managed to put in some sort of conclusion for the whole Vandal thing or the Sect, but I imagine they at least removed the stand-off at the very end and all?

>>6289767
More of the same so far, so if you didn't like the story or battles from 1 I don't think you'll enjoy the other two. 2 shows you the events that took place on the imperial side right up to the end of 1, and then 3 is the big finisher where you team up with both teams as far as I know.

The original English ending had Emperor Domaric being convinced to leave Aspia for the time being. I don't recall why, but it was implied that you've brought peace to the republic and they can start rebuilding. They do the best they could with the existing animations basically, but things like Bulzome's awakening and the remaining priests are kind of put to the side.

>> No.6289886

>>6289869
Yeah I guess that's about as good as they could've done, and I think it could kinda work if you picture Medion arguing with Domaric a bit. Arguably better than just leaving it as is too.
A real shame it didn't just get a proper release, but then again with this kinda patch there's really no need to complain now I suppose.

Yep, the patches are great. I only would like to see a re-release or port to current platforms if only to make it more accessible to more people. Hard to recommend a game like this when it involves so much leg-work.

Yeah, it would be really cool to see it on steam with the other two or something, but then they could also just bundle up all of the classic SF games. Because so far they've all been pretty fun, basic, but fun.
And while we're at it, also translate and port Feather, because that one seems like I could enjoy it too, but nobody ever finished a patch for it it seems.
I'd even argue for the Valkyria Chronicles clones because I just love that combat system too much, but frankly Blade and whatever was before it just look garbage for story, so that's less of a priority

I think there's a much newer version than v17 for the translation, it's like v21 these days. I got no clue what it changes but it's probably best if you get the last one and just patch an ISO yourself.
