Do you ever play PS1 with the original controller?

Of course. Most ps1 games don't support analog sticks anyway and the original controller is super comfy.

Yes, back in the 90's. I got dualshocks some time later and still didn't use the sticks as all the games were made for the original controller anyway and controlled badly otherwise (Quake 2 for example)

Do I? It'd be nice if I could find a console that didn't chew up its own laser, but fuck me!

Though you can get decent Chinese USB knockoffs for literally one dollar and I quite like those for NES games since they're equally lightweight, less physically painful, and you can do a dramatic guitar smash whenever you pull off something cool then just get a fresh one out of the drawer.

That's not the original controller. This is. The scph-1010 that was bundled with the original Japanese SCPH-1000 systems. It has shorter legs than the scph-1080 revision everyone calls the "first" PlayStation controller, and a very short cord.

It's astounding how many professionally written articles about the PlayStation overlook this.

Americans associate weight with perceived quality. Give someone two products that are otherwise identical, yet one has a few pieces of zinc to bulk it up. Ask them which one they think is higher quality, and guaranteed they're going to pick the one with the weights.

I think they did a pretty good job, considering nintendo directly copied and released it over a decade later.

>> No.6266694

Yeah, I use it pretty often because my dualshock has a slight drift in the sticks, this seems somewhat normal as all the sticks on dualshocks feel very sensitive. Haven't verified personally. It took me until about 2004 to make a full transition to even using the analog sticks as many games still supported the d-pad and I felt more comfortable with it for movement in Playstation/2 games.

By the time i had a ps1 the dual analog had become the standard and packed in.
So im always somewhat confused when someone or sony acts like the standard is the nostalgia piece of the ps1 era.
When i think of ps1 pads, i think of the dual shock, and im pretty sure most people do.
