Not gonna lie, Road Fighter was super comfy. Wish I could've figured out the intricacies behind skidding/hitting/speed, to be able to knock other cards into the rails at minimum speed loss. It felt the engine encouraged that but I never learned how, and played it as a normal racing game.

I had one of those famiclones as a kid and went as far as finding an identical one a few years back, so I could dump its ROM. Turned out they were fully functional NES units, with all the chips present, not those shitty glob tops.

Still need to repair it, some of the internal cables broke when I pulled it apart, and the video connectors are in so poor condition that they need replacements.

That good old 255-in-1 gave me a fuck ton of fun as a kid.

You can counter steer to achieve that in Road Fighter.

On my Famiclone it was possible to press the center of the d-pad to achieve that easily. I’ve tried it on emulator with another game pad and it was much harder but possible.

Love that game. Fun fact, if you do a perfect run in a stage, Superman (Konami man I guess?) flies on the left side of the screen and you’re given a bonus.

I had a GBA multicard that had 99 emulated NES games on it, including probably around 90% of all Famicom games released in 1985. When I was watching Chrontendo, I knew most of the otherwise obscure games in those early episodes, so I'm familiar with crap like Exerion and Formation Z.
I heard some eastern bloc countries got to play the excellent Recca Summer Carnival 92 on their famiclones.
