What exactly is so hard about XMB to use? It's not even like before where they didn't actually describe the options given.

>> No.6222260

I find it to be pretty simple, much better than the older interface. Then again, I've always liked the XMB on the PSP and PS3.

It's an interface designed for a handheld, yet they put it everywhere it doesn't belong, like on computers, HTPCs, Pis, etc, where you could easily hook up a wireless kb+m, or just a mouse, and navigate 100 times faster and more intuitively. And the UI is only one of several problems with RA.

Nothing.
Tards just don't give it long enough to realize it's the right design for a controller based interface.

And that makes it suck for mouse and keyboard.

Why are you playing console games with a keyboard?

literally the worst ui when it comes to emulation and I use it every day.
text is the wrong size and you barely see any information at one time. you also have to wait for text to scroll to see file types. a bit of a nightmare when you're try to see if a file is bin or cue.
and of course its controller/keyboard only and stacks menus to the point where its going full feature creep and making shit redundant.

I hope they streamline saving at some point. juggling retroarch save settings and various core/game overrides and realizing something didn't work the way it was supposed to so you have to edit a text document is aids.

I'm not playing them with m+kb, but I prefer using m+kb for the UI before switching to the controller for actually playing. Controller for all the other stuff just isn't that good.

It works just fine with a keyboard.

Isn't it literally ripped straight from the ps3?

IIRC the PSX (the actual PSX, not the PlayStation) had it first.

Look at this autistic piece of crap UI. How the hell do RetroArch cultists defend this?

Well, it seems you're in the minority.
I prefer being able to control almost everything from the couch without having to switch interface devices.

You know there's like 6 different GUI themes right? And you can download more.

I switched to rgui because every time I started ra while someone else was around they'd ask if it was a ps3 emulator

Lol, this. There is even a "desktop" theme for us OGs.

Its shit. I refuse to have this crap installed on my xbox. The standalone works so much better and easier.

looks like ozone is the default for retroarch now?
works pretty well but just needs mouse support. also a way to display the tooltips would be nice. they're a waste of text when scrolling once you know what the options do imo.

>> No.6222527

>>6222494

I meant disable but yeah. having another line explaining what each option does just adds to more scrolling.

XMB is very eay to use, provided it's implemented well and used to control something that needs/works well with it. The shit in your pic fails all those criteria.

>> No.6225386

Ozone is much cleaner and easier to navigate. This, and the ability to individually hide menu options you don’t care about, has improved RetroArch tremendously

>> No.6225553

It's not hard, but it sure is the ugliest menu driver in my opinion.

>> No.6227498

Is there a way to get different UIs for RetroArch? I don't mine the default one but I feel like I've seen some cool ones

PSP and PS3.

nothing, it's still shit though. They need some devs with UI design experience. Also I really just want some metadata. At least give me the option to scrape some fucking descriptions.
