Thinking about getting a PC-FX and an Apple Bandai Pippin, once I get my lawsuit money (got obliteratedy a car going 65mph while I was on a moped this past summer)

Thankfully, the Pippin can play burned discs, because the games very rarely pop up on yahoo auctions or Ebay.

small update to the station, welcomed a Famicom Disk System to my little family of hardware, managed to get the sound system to work with the modern TV, also added a comfy little chair to use with the retro stuff.

Bros, give me insight on how to achieve the optimal build for a comfy and cozy battlestation. My wife and I just got a new open concept duplex, and while I like the space, it doesn't really feel like I can make a comfy little nook all to my own without encroaching on the entirety of the room overall.

I even considered clearing out one of the walk-in closets in order to make space, but even then I don't have comfortable seating or furniture to put my CRT or computer on. What do?

A 2030 is still a very good monitor, it's about the size of a smaller arcade monitor, and even at 20"~, it's still much better than those fags bragging about their dinky 14" PVMs as if they're one of the big bois. Most consoles are hooked up to my Sony KV-27FS120 in my bedroom. The NES is hooked up to a 1980s 19" Zenith CRT that has inputs for composite and surprisingly, s-video. I keep it unplugged and stashed beside my couch. When I use it I have it on the living room coffee table. I'm very happy with my PC Engine right now, it's connected to my PC with a low latency capture card.

I'm moving in a few weeks so everything's been packed up. My plan is to consolidate everything into one room.

Just moved out fairly recently so this is my first living room setup. The bottom doors roll in like a garage door for consoles and peripherals which are too big to fit on the top (There's just a Twin Famicom there right now, but I intend to add more later such as arcade sticks and an N64 - assuming the N64 is too big for the top).

It's an OLED but I chose it over a CRT because for me personally I think the pros outweigh the cons.

+Larger screens
+Easier to find (at least where I live)
+Better for HD content when not gaming
+Doesn't look out of place in a modern living room
+Less noise
+Less maintenance
+Crisper/cleaner picture

I understand the last one is a downside for many as it's less authentic and less what the devs originally intended, but I think when paired with scanlines and optional dither blending from analogue consoles and/or the OSSC it gets a happy enough medium between authentic and crisp for me.

I do find these downsides though:

-Not as nostalgic
-Not as authentic (when I want to be)
-More input lag (though I've personally not noticed it as I got an LG C9 which has less input lag than most flatscreens)
-The aperture grill/shadow mask looks better
-No pillarboxing
-No lightgun games (this is probably the biggest downside to me)

If I get a larger place with an extra room spare just for gaming someday I'll definitely get a CRT then.

I seriously hope you aren't playing those PAL versions though. I have like a bunch of PAL versions from my childhood, but all my consoles are Japanese versions which I use for playing NTSC versions, both Japanese and US.

The Psone is chipped and I only play backups on it.
I region modded the Megadrive so it can also play games at full speed.
Ps2 has FMCB with a HDD inside of it ofcourse.(it's a pain in the ass to load games on it so it doesn't get much use these days).
And lastly the Wii is hacked too, I play everything Nintendo on it.
The games on display are the ones that came with the consoles when I bought them from fleamarkets and local eBay sellers.
I play NTSC versions of everything as well.

Ah, I see. The PS1 is the only console I have in it's PAL version, since the PAL/NTSC thing is fully software controlled. I couldn't get a Japanese console since the BIOS in those don't support that NoCash exploit that UniROM uses, and an American version would be a bit expensive. Supposedly this makes the timing a bit off due to some crystal in the console that is only made to work in either NTSC or PAL, but since Point Blank works fine in the wrong mode the difference appears to be very slight. Not something to be concerned of unless you're gonna do speedrunning.

I play the PAL version of Team Buddies. The US release is censored, and since it was developed by a UK studio it was likely properly PAL optimized, and it's the kind of game that benefits more from the extra resolution than 5 to 10 more frames per second.

I looks into UniROM before and quickly gave up after seeing that my PSOne wasnt compatible.

Here is mine. It's not much but it's home. Retro wise, I have an NES, an SNES, a Genesis, a Saturn, an N64, a PS2 for PS1 games, a Dreamcast (under the righthand monitor) and a GameCube, used almost exclusively for Gameboy games. The GC has an HDMI adapter, the NES uses Composite, while everything else connects to my OSSC through SCART (save for the PS2, that's Component, and the Dreamcast that uses VGA).

All those systems are RGB modded and are running through a gscart switch and framemeister which are neatly hidden behind the cabinet. I do occasionally pull out the Commodore 1084-P1 and Phillips CM8833. Depends on my mood - sometimes it's nice to sit back and play on the big screen, sometimes I go for max nostalgia.
