New to the arcade emulation scene, I'm looking for recommendations of great arcade games that have been abandoned or otherwise haven't had a re-release of some sort on console or PC. Any genre is fine. I am primarily using MAME but am willing to download other emulators if they run on them better.

That's tens of thousands of games. At least give some indication of what you like. But more ideally lurk moar.

>great arcade games
No such thing. If you want great games, try some story-driven RPGs that will actually make you think.
If you're a brainlet who just wants to shoot things and play games made for 9 year olds with mommy's quarters at the arcade, play arcade games but they're not "great"

I remember seeing that game at my local arcade when I was a kid, but I never played it because i was a huge faggot. Is it fun?

It's possibly one of the best lightgun games ever made. State of the art at the time and has an astounding artstyle and soundtrack and it has a boss named Ludwig von Tokkentakker.

Do you like the theme song to the beetlejuice cartoon? It's basically if you adapted that into a game. The enemies take too many hits to kill, though.

The game is a once and done kinda thing. You play through it once and you've pretty much seen everything it has to offer. There are no extras like Maximum Force had, aside from party hat mode in the haunted house which is an entirely cosmetic thing. There are no hidden extra routes because of the game being mostly prerendered. To put it simply, replayability is not one of the games strong points. The only way to get a slightly different experience on a different playthrough is if you play with two players. If you own a cabinet or are playing on mame, you can raise the difficulty to enable more enemies or change Junior into Deaddy, or turn off blood to see how the game tries to censor itself, but that's pretty much it.

The game also has those cheap moments where you're absolutely forced to take damage no matter what you do or how well you play.

You also killed a baby in it. Personally, my favorite was this one.
