However VHS tapes are worth 2$, whereas old school video games...It's my dream to actually do this but I don't think I'll ever have the means to. Super Game Boy provides better visuals than the old B&W screens but doesn't run GBC games.

Well, except the GBC carts with a B&W backward compatibility mode. Those will run in B&W only and won't be as good as on a GBC.

The case the US version of the GBP disc uses is the same as normal Japanese retail cases. In Europe, they use a normal PAL game case, which fits nicely with the others.

Nintendo has always been inconsistent with region packaging.

I mostly rented games or went over to a friend's house and played theirs. For the longest time the only game I owned was DK64 since it came with the console.

Its a really good game. An early free-roam RPG where there is one dungeon you must play as several characters to finish. It was too high of a concept for me as a kid, but I am going to knock it out and finish it this summer.
