No. I was too young. But I would sit and watch my older brother play through this game and many others. I was in awe of him. This specific memory really takes me back. Rest in peace Sean. Sounds silly but thanks for the post OP.

Thank you for taking the time to post that. I have been thinking about him a lot lately as his birthday is coming up soon. Most of my memories of him involve video games. I remember watching him play Resident Evil 2. It was horrifying. But he found some cheats or someway he just had a bazooka or something that could kill everything. Made it much less scary. We would play Armored Core and he would let me win. I know he would be so excited to see how far games have come now. And comics. And movies.

After many defeats I pulled it off, didn't even know you could bypass the time limit. I appreciated the challenge but I hate how cryptic this game is with some of its secrets, I probably would have never beat him if I didn't do a bit of research and learn about the air tam storm secret and how to get omnislash. How the hell was I suppose to know that new items would appear at the battle square and that its the only way to get the MC's final limit break?

That monster actually really scared me, because when you dive it's roaming the ocean. Could be anywhere when the screen goes back to normal: nowhere to be seen, in the distance, or right in front of you face.
No idea why it makes me panic.

The average time is 72 hours and a lot of people played it as their first RPG of any kind of length and there was a lot of shit people didn't know about beating it back then.

4x-Cut on Cloud, Tifa and Yuffie, including several Counter materias. I have never needed the Underwater material. Emerald dies around the 10 minute mark.

Nope, I don't find it fun to grind for dozens of extra hours just so I can say I beat the hard postgame boss. It'd be different if it were a skill-based game, but secret bosses in JRPGs are just a chore because it's such a numbers game.
