The meaning of "retro" indicates something very flexible that changes with time, the sixth gen of consoles are becoming older and older, and now we even reached a new decade.

To put in perspective, when the PS2 came out the Famicom (NES) was 17 years old, but now the PS2 itself is 20 years old.

Games are retro. Systems are Retro. Marketing is Retro. Software that runs games is not Retro. New Hardware that runs games is not Retro.

If you need to use an emulator to play an old game that's great. Use it, even ask for help to play that game, but the software you use to play that game isn't retro.
