6125560 No.6125560 [Reply] [Original]

Bought this new for $15 at a used game shop today.

Tested with my Sega CDX plugged into an HDTV with HD-Retrovision's cables, there's a one-second lag with it. Tested it with the original wired controller, no lag whatsoever.

Should I just return it?

Retrobit, 8bitdo, and hyperkin produce nothing but trash. Sad to see anons still buying that garbage here despite how many times we tell them it's shit.

Correct.

How you guys notice that lag?

So then there's NO feasable wireless options for a Sega Genesis today?

You press an action button and see how long it takes for the action to be executed on the screen.

No. We're only a couple of years into good wireless mice that can match wired performance, and said mice are absurdly expensive (~$150). Wireless retro controllers are suitable for comfy turn-based play, but that's it.

>>6125668
Well that's disappointing. Guess I'll need to find a new wired six button controller then, my existing one's fraying.

How can you even ask if you should return it with a full second lag? Is this a joke? Am I feeding a troll?

To be fair, a cursory amount of googling will tell you these shitty controllers are great. You need to dive pretty deep to get past all of the reviews from outright shills, or just woefully uneducated brainlets who don't know any better to find the truth.

The official wired MD controllers are spot on. I've got two and they're almost identical to the original.

Just curious if its just new = bad with you, or you have tried out the controllers and found out there shit. The wireless ones are supposed to be okay. Not trying to give you shit, just want to know.

Is the Hori Fighting Commander any good? What else would you recommend if not for PC and ps4 retro gaming?

Solid pick FG piano grippers who don't want to invest in a dedicated fightstick. Obviously the lack of analogs and awkward placement of R1/R2 for non fighting games hamper it as a general use controller. DS4 or Wii Classic Pro would be my personal picks as the best do-it-all controller.

Moreso intend to use it for fighters and shoot em ups. I have an xbox one controller for the rest. Not sure if I should just save my money , or grab a fight stick even as you say.

have had mine since launch, I haven’t had any problems with them, I suspect people having trouble with them are people who have autistic rage fits and toss their controllers

nice cope, but they admitted that the extremely brittle plastic they used was an issue and have offered to replace them for free

Make of this what you will but the 8bitdo controllers I’ve used have been serviceable. I have a s-video SD projector and the input lag over Bluetooth is negligible and off compared it to a Wii using a famicom controller plugged straight into the wiimote and a snes plugged straight into the projector itself. Can’t speak for anyone else but mine is pretty good. If you’re a CRT zealot and it’s that important to you then you should be going for original hardware anyway.

>> No.6127014

OP here, turns out the Genesis receiver just needed a firmware update, which is something I didn't even know was possible with these things. Works fine with no lag now.

>> No.6127034

I'll add Krikzz' wireless genny controller is alright. The logitech dualshock and the NES one I can't remember the name of are also alright.

The only really shitty one I've used is the 8BitDo SNES controller and that's only because the dpad fucking sucks.

I've got an original 6-Button and they're practically the same.

Maybe I got lucky (twice) but mine have been brilliant so far.

I bought the Saturn wired edition when they came out and posted a shitty review in a thread here. The Saturn controller is just fine, d-pad feels pretty great. It's just too light for me, I do not like controllers that are near-weightless. They feel cheap to me. I feel similarly about most things, my mouse included, though.

Pros:
D-pad is good
Buttons feel fine, still do
Very light if you like that sort of thing

Cons
No shoulder buttons
Light
Buttons only feel "fine", I suspect they'll give out sooner or later

I don't know why you would've gotten a Genesis/Mega Drive edition when the Saturn edition was right there.
>>6126518
People playing fightan gaymes on controllers grew up playing them on controllers. If you spent any amount of time in an arcade playing Mortal Kumbat or whatever I would suggest getting a joystick.

Those were for the Saturn repos you dip. I haven't heard anyone having problems with the Genesis ones yet everywhere I looked was people having problems the Saturn controllers.
