searched the catalog and didn't see a thread devoted to light gun games, so i thought i'd make one

just played pic related for the first time recently and loved it. are there any other light gun gems that flew under the radar?

i was in middle school when columbine happened and all i ever heard them blame it on was DOOM, as far as video games go.

Elemental Gearbolt is impossible to play with a gamepad. This game was clearly made with a light gun in mind.

Played it for the first time several months ago, and thought it was alright. For a lightgun game it's not nearly as good as Time Crisis, House of the Dead, and other established lightgun shooters.

I fucking love light gun games/rail shooters.
Snagged this on Ebay just today for 55$, it's going to be my second guncon. I don't have space for this shit but I don't care, I'm excited to play some co-op with my roommates, and as amazing as Time Crisis 2/3 are I need some more variety.
Wish there were more PS2 light gun games, most of them aren't even NTSC. The Resident Evil game and the Virtua Cop collection seem fun.
Too bad GC2s don't work with PS1 light gun games, I don't look forward to having to buy a third light gun...

Whoops.
Went to bed, that anon wasn't me. Forgot about the '99 rule, but I do wonder when 6th gen will be retro. PS2 is significantly older now than DC was in 2014, when the sticky was written.
I imagine this has come up many times. It's also less of a time thing and more of a specific era of video games people want to discuss, but I just want to stay off /v/ whenever possible.

To stay on topic, what other retro light gun perhipherals/systems are worth checking out besides the PS1? I know the Saturn had one for HOTD.

Is there a 3rd party PS2 gun that's backward compatible with Guncon 1, or do you pretty much just have to get a 1 and 2 no matter what?

Also, I'm really not into the safety orange american guns, is there any compatibility issues anyone's aware of with using japanese guns on a US system or build differences apart from color?

>> No.6121752

i've never had any issue using japanese ps1/ps2 controllers on american region consoles and vice versa, so it should be fine if you wanna get the jap ones that don't have the dumb orange end on them

i got a dreamcast gun, the first party one, and as most people report it's pretty inaccurate and shakes a lot horizontally. after trying the more popular games i tried death crimson OX, with low expectations, but it smooths out the constant shakiness and you can actually aim worth a damn. worth a try if the other gun games for dreamcast bug you.

Really enjoying gun bullet. The ps1 guncon is by far the best light gun I've ever used. If you get a chance the series is called Point Blank in the west and is really fun with some slappin' music.
