I'm the opposite whenever developers put "convenience" or "fast forward" options in remakes. Once I have the ability to trivialize or completely skip parts of the game, I actually start getting annoyed even more because then I wish I could just skip everything except for the good moments, which then don't seem as good because there was no build-up to them.

I never had an issue with the sailing speed or changing the wind direction in Wind Waker, but when they put the swift sail in the HD remake, I actually found myself getting bored with sailing. Making it go that much faster and removing the need for wind direction management just turned the sailing into what seemed like pointless filler, because in the original it at least asked you to pay attention to the wind and served to help make the world feel more vast. It's kind of the same thing in FFVII, once I had the ability to speed through battles, it made me just want to skip them entirely, which you could, but then you'd be too underleveled to beat bosses, so whatevs. I just stick with the original.

Ultimately though also, does it really matter if someone plays a game, cheats, doesn't like it and then acts smug? Does it matter if a game we enjoyed as youths in 1985 doesn't appeal to a youth of the same age now? Honestly there were a lot of games (rpgs especially) that I played in their day but would find almost painfully slow now. I went through FF7 twice when it was new but these days probably wouldn't play it without a fast forward feature. Though that's more indicative that I find the genre itself mostly boring now.

Anyways I am still strongly on the side of accessibility being a good thing. Even if the smugness of people who cheated their way though a game is vexing, it still leaves the door open to anyone who does want to try it earnestly. And the opposite as we see with unreleased games is at least as annoying. The talking up how amazing something is simply to brag about having access to it. There's always going to be asshats acting like asshats.
