I will try to explain my thing with RGB/CRT
As a kid I played mostly on CRT with the RF Cable.
But I played a lot on the arcades. Arcade games are graphically special.
Then in the dreamcast years I played perfect ports of some arcades.
But something was missing.
Then I discovered that Arcades are mostly plugged with RGB.
So I started to buy RGB Scart cables.
When I played with RGB Scart on my Megadrive for the first time I could not believe the quality of the picture.
CRT has a certain way of display low res pictures.
The way of making them smooth.
The COLORS

I live in Europe so here Scart RGB is extremely easy to get working.

My first PC.

Am 386 @ 20MHz
4MB RAM
originally 40MB HDD compressed to whopping ~80MB, now something bigger around 400MB I think

Notice the compact size compared to 3.5" floppy drive. Machine still works fine, MS-DOS 6.22, Windows 3.11 and bunch of games installed. Sadly I don't have working keyboard with appropriate connector anymore so I can't really use it right now.

Doom runs pretty slow on it, but I grew up on Wolfenstein 3D anyway. And Cycles/Grand Prix by Accolade. And Test Drive 2. And Hocus Pocus, Crystal Caves... Commander Keen... Ski or Die... Lost Vikings... oh and even Sim City 2000. But that ran like very slow slideshow.

Better shot of the living room setup. TV outputs to the receiver on the left.

HDCRT is a pretty good compromise, displays 1920x1080 with my HTPC (which doubles as a MAME box), the PS2 plays PS1 games over component which looks glorious, and the Wii is great as an emulator box (via injected VC titles). And while old consoles don't look quite as good as they do on my 13" 4:3 tube, it's still leagues better than on a modern HDTV.

Nintendo's in-house emulator seems to run better than SNES9xGX, besides with an emulated NAND you don't have a limit to the number of titles, and there is no risk of banner bricking the system so I figure why not?

I didn't look at all the things he posted at all, but injected N64 roms work better than the Wii N64 emulators that I've tried. Better controls and generally run better as well. If there's better emus for N64 on Wii now then maybe it's changed, but that's how it was a few years ago.
