They actually did a good job with the PSOne, it's intriguing that the weird off-shoot versions of the consoles end up being the best looking ones while the originals are usually bulky and not very visually appealing.

I remember lusting after that CDX. I had a first-gen Genesis, and the size difference between the original Genesis / Sega CD rig and the CDX blew my mind. I still say it's a nice, simple, snappy little package.

Good lord. Each to their own, I guess. I'm as big an Amiga fanboy as you're ever likely to find but I think that thing looks awful. It's like it's trying to ape the gorgeous Mega Drive 1 but with sharp angles where it should have sexy curves. It really doesn't help that the plastics all look and feel super cheap when you get up close.

It's got to be the original Mega Drive. A tie between the understated black and white of the Euro PAL machine and the huge, chunky 16-BIT (MOTHERFUCKERS!) badge on the Japanese one, with the Genesis coming in a close 3rd place.

If we're including handhelds I've got to give some love to the original Game Boy. Simple, clean, absolutely iconic, and goddamn indestructible.

The black and pink recase is pretty handsome too, and the silver pocket is a looker, but it's the original that floats my boat.

I'm sure there'll be people here who grew up after the height of the GB (before the pokemon-inspired revival, I guess), so: Is it just nostalgia that makes me attached to it or is it as beautiful to everyone as it is in my head?

It's not so bad as you can guarantee anything with the 'HD graphics' sign at least has the discrete audio chips in. There's no need to worry about the video side of things as I believe you have to in the US (something about differing qualities of composite out?) as everything is straight RGB over SCART with the right cable.

So long as everything else is good the 2 second copyright flash-up from TMSS isn't a horrible hardship. I got lucky with mine, but if I hadn't I wouldn't fret.

Nice. clean design, no annoying fucking frills, the most convenient and portable GBA without sacrificing screen size, delicious clicky buttons.
I appreciate a utilitarian design, and the SP was perfect there.
the only failing was that the lighting was a little uneven, and seeing the screen was impossible with the light off under any conditions.

Notice the extra 2 switches, with them I could change the number of ghosts in Ms Pacman

You could play Ms Pacman with only 1 ghost (I was 6, I didn't need my games to be super difficult)
