I created a modified RISC-V platform and ported QNX to it with the sole intent of making it incompatible with graphics libraries to spite John and John. And someone still cracked the bootloader and implemented the engine using only mov instructions, what the fuck.

For a "proper" port you need some good integer horsepower and a bit of memory / video speed.
Floating point is only used in "modern" source ports - regarding the map format I guess
In the original source 'p_maputl.c', 'r_main.c' both have some floating point based code but it's disabled.

Absolutely anything that can accept homebrew code, has a display, 66Mhz processor and 4Mb ram can run original Doom just fine.
Anything less would require cut downs and compromises. Minimum where its still a proper Doom would be 22Mhz cpu, with severe compromises (which is what SNES Doom uses on SuperFX2 chip).

It was barely better than Wolfenstein, not even near Rise of the Triad, let alone Doom.

That's not the point. The thread is about hardware natively running a port of the game specifically compiled for said hardware.

NES.

I honestly have an urge to learn NES assembly and make a Doom port just to make one. People have already tried raycasting on NES, it is possible. Now we just need to get a basic shooter running at at least 15 FPS (1 update every 4 frames).

I beat it on original hardware. It was like store-brand ice cream sandwiches. It gives you the basic fill but I don't think I can stomach anything more decrepit.
>>6084547
Eh, you'd still be cheating a little bit and making a "Doom-as-Wolf3d" kind of game, rather than something with defined sectors, non orthogonals, etc.
