Both VF1 and VFR has really bad controls on the Saturn. But yes, VF1 looked better, since it had realtime lightning. VFR had zero lightning whatsoever. Unfortunately, both control like ass.

VF2 on the other hand is the fighting game with the smoothest controls ever on the Saturn.

Following up on my post here since I finally acquired the missing file. I wouldn't count on the VF's emulation in MAME being that much better than what it currently is. Physics have finally be implemented, meaning characters like Sarah finally have their hair, as well as fighters no longer immediately sinking into the ground when hit. Hitboxes, however, don't appear to have been improved. Half the shit I or the cpu opponent was throwing just passed though one another. Also now requires a more powerful cpu than my 6 year old laptop has in it. Either the game was already like that, the compiled mame I tested with was busted, or some other chip is still missing/improperly implemented.
