Generally, that only happens with electrolytic caps.
Chinese everdrive uses ceramic and tantalum caps. Those don't fail often, and if they do, they are simple to replace and don't leak corrosive electrolytes.

you guys are fucking morons and it shows. when I said "back then" I meant 2007. it was shortly after passme devices and you could still find genuine R4s in the market. yes, clones were becoming prevalent, but so were quality carts like the M3, DSONE, CycloDS, etc. the original R4 team also came up with the Wood firmware which is still popular to this day in one form or another.

at that point the DSi wasn't out either and the OG DS and the DSL didn't have proper firmwares, so there weren't any compatibility issues. every flashcart worked straight out of the box. which is not to say you can't get the original R4 to work on a 3DS through Luma, and virtually any other cart.

and only a literal brainlet would buy a R4i SDHC with their timebomb bullshit when things like the R4i Gold+, Acekard or DSTT exist. the "general consensus" is to not be retarded.

SD2SNES didn't have them for a long time either. Cx4 had to be patched several times in the past 3 years if I remember well. What's even worse is that you pay almost 4 times as much for a SD2SNES than for an everdrive.
