Answers will vary.

Commonly:
2D: IV, V, or VI
3D: FF7 or FFT or FF9 (as far as retro ones go)

I'd say FF9.

FF6>FF9>FFT1&2>FF7! (FF6 being the best).

FF10<FF15<FF13<FF8! (FF8 being the worst).

>FF6
Best overall. A must play for anyone on here.

>FF9
Best for gameplay, flavour and content, under FF6 of course.

>FFT
One of the best tactical RPG games ever made.

>FF7
Cause FF7.

>FF10
Plot has some contradictions, it's a bit too linear and the levelling system can be a chore when you reach the end game. (Replacing spheres etc.)

>FF15
Game that was taken away from the original creators, twice, took years to develop and was rushed at the end. Game is boring and gay. The combat can be completed by simply slapping the controller.

>FF13
Development drama similar to FF15, game was supposed to be an action RPG like Kingdom Hearts or Crisis Core except it was cut down and hurriedly turned into a turn based game. Which led to things like not being able to control the other two members of your party during a turn based encounter.

>FF8
Story was originally written by Tetsuya Nomura but due to personal conflicts with the lead creative Yoshinori Kitase Nomura was replaced with Kazushige Nojima. Why does this all matter?

FF8 has the most ridiculous story line. There are whole areas of the game that serve no purpose other than to have a mini-game in them. The best parts of the game are almost certainly from Nomura's game (Garden battle, Dollet Mission and the Space Station).

The core system that drives the gameplay revolves around monsters' stats being generated based on the mean average of your party's level and modifying it. Therefore it is pointless levelling or grinding anything other than drawable magic, because magic modifies a character's stats without changing their level.

FF III (aka VI). Currently playing it and it's my first FF (or even non-pokemon RPG for that matter). Other than the insane amount of random encounters it's and absolutely amazing game thus far

It has the hottest women, anyway. They don't look like superdeformed plastic dolls and they don't look like Asians. Two common pitfalls for Japanese artists avoided!

FF12 is up there though. I feel that Penelo's bodysuit is underappreciated.

That's what makes it good, grinding is retarded. FF8 lets you become stronger by exploring the world and searching for rare items and magics, beating optional GFs in the side quests, deciding what abilities to learn and using them strategically. And playing the card game.

I've never played it, but from what I've read, its development was a disaster. It began as Versus XIII in 2006 for the PS3 and was released as XV in 2016 for the PS4. Supposedly wasn't great.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b6At_bb1PNU

Final Fantasy probably should stick to being an MMO at this point.

I've got this on Vita but the loadtimes are fucking SLOOOOW and the Music compression really strips away a lot of the great sound effects in the tunes.

WoTL has got a really cool translation but not too big on the voice acting in the cutscenes (would be great if I could turn it off desu)

Is there a mod I can apply to the game to make it a more enjoyable experience?

>I don't really know any plot holes, but other people on the internet said there are

Also, most people, likely including yourself, don't understand what a plot hole actually is.
From your first link:

>At the end of the game, Tidus sort of disappears. We get that he is a dream of the Fayth and some sort of hero for the world of Spira, but we don't get why he couldn't remain in the physical realm.

>This is a world of magic.

>How come we can't find this dude after we save the world? It's not fair. Does his essence or mind still exist somewhere? Or was he always just an artificial humanoid dream thing? Come back, Tidus.

That's not a plot hole at all, that's following the rules of the established game world, it's the exact fucking opposite of a plot hole, it's internal consistency. The rest of the supposed examples are just as stupid.

I dunno, only one that I ever played fully was X. I played some of XII, XIII, and XIV but I could never get into the political drama, I always found Dragon Quest to be more interesting for as simple as it is both story and gameplay wise. Are the older ones not really that dull with constantly diving into politics or is the entire series like this?
