So... What is the objective of Tamagotchi anyway? In 97 we all assumed you wanted him to go back to his planet asap and I could always do it the fastest by just beating it until it would eat and then beating it some more but that can't be right.

>> No.602940

The main objective was for your parents to spend lots of money buying something that was basically a virtual aquarium, except with less interaction

>dat cultural misunderstanding

technology is a tool. tools are properly used by those who invent them, not because they know how to make them work, but because they followed the process of its development.

murika cant into technology, not because they are stupid or dont know how to use it, but because they dont know what to do with it.

thus, if you want to understand the tamagotchi you have to see, not the thing itself but its surroundings.

Depending on how well you take care of them sonsabitches, they grow into different types--for instance, in the mothra tamagotchi, you can get your little larva to grow into a Godzilla if you follow some byzantine-assed rules.

Superior. Only flaw was it didn't feature a Pokéthing ... ok, that and the weird shape.

And it would could steps correctly. I swear my PP would count steps like this 1 2 3 4 6 8 10 14 18 25 35 45 55 70 ...
but it was still cool to hit a million on it

I had a Gigapet, whatever the Alien one was called. Tamagotchis were still hard to obtain at the time.

Also had one called a "nekotcha" which was one of the worst clones out there. At each stage of life you had options to give it X or Y, for food, play, etc. Give it the wrong one and it DIED.

I had a couple of different virtual pet toys. The only one I really remember was the first one I got. It was for taking care of a dog, and, it was pretty annoying that overnight it'd leave a bunch of shit and get sick or naughty. Unfortunately mum accidentally lost it at one point and I never saw it again. That made me sad.
