Looking to mod my DMG to charge a lithium ion battery pack held where the batteries used to be using the DC input on the side of the console. Is there any documentation out there for this, or other custom solutions?

Also handheld modding general

What the hell documentation do you need? If you know enough to do your own modding, you would know what voltages you are dealing with, and how to wire up a fucking battery pack. If you need "documentation" to do a mod like this, don't do it. You are going to end up causing your battery pack to explode in your face.

I would like documentation specifically for where to wire the lines to my battery, and how to stop it from exploding if possible. You telling me that if I need documentation to do this that I'm incapable of doing this is about as good of advice as telling someone not to read a cupcake recepie because they don't know how to make a cupcake. That's literally the reason I'm asking for documentation. So thanks for the concern but if you can't direct me in the right direction here I'm just going to ignore your advice.

If you can't even google up simple shit like "how to wire battery pack" or see with your eyes where the console is expecting pos and neg, then go right ahead and ignore my advice and kill yourself. This is literally babby's first electrical project. Even googling "how to create rechargeable battery pack" would give you enough info if you were capable of putting 2 and 2 together. Fucking recapping a console takes more know-how than this.

Why can't the modern generation do basic research when every one of them grew up with the internet? Why does every one of them need non-stop spoonfeeding?

I've been searching for the entire past week, if it was such an easy and quick Google search you would be able to provide me with the information I am looking for. I have no idea why you're throwing a tantrum about me asking for advice. Listen bro, if it's stressing you out that much you really outta just take a break off the computer for a bit.

No, spoon feeding would me being a loser and commissioning someone to do it for me, instead I'm actually trying to learn a few skills here and pursue a hobby I enjoy. I'm just not trying to fuck up my hardware. Honestly I don't know how much shit you found in your coffee this morning but it must have been extra smelly you poor bastard. Sorry, next time I'll just go buy a fucking pocket analogue like a real cuck

There's literally a $15 kit on ebay to do this right now, it doesn't even look like it has a charging circuit it just has its own power supply that I assume is higher amperage.

The auction has a pic that looks suspiciously like OP's, too which makes me wonder if this thread is just some kind of chingchong attempt at viral marketing.

I would be dubious of plugging this in without some kind of regulator in line and looking for some reviews first.

It's not worth it unless you just modify the battery bay

>> No.6021023

>>6021015
I agree. The best, safest, cheapest way to do this is to just buy 8 good rechargeable AA batteries, a 4 bay external battery charger and just switch them out when they die.

Godpei Yokoi made your Game Boy perfect, just the way it should be. Are you denying his perfect vision? Are you saying his creation is wrong? Your mod will eventually just break anyway.

>I don't wanna be spoonfed
>I just want people to tell me everything instead of spending 5 seconds googling for the info just about everyone else can get since they aren't retarded
If you can't find the info you need by googling for "how to make a rechargable battery pack", then you are literally TOO retarded to do the mod without killing yourself.

For fucks sake anon, what is your damage? I built a solar panel setup last year just by using info I found through google, and that's far more involved than a fucking rechargeable battery pack. How can you possibly be this dumb?

>> No.6021446

Why not use Eneloops?

>> No.6021470

Why do you want to mod a rechargable battery into it? I personally consider the option to use normal batteries to be a major benefit. They're cheap, you never need to worry about the battery needing to be charged or if it's not holding a charge as good as it used to, just slap some new AAs in the bad boy and you're good for a while.

>>6021446
Both of these. Dont butcher another gameboy, they're already far less common in working order than last decade, leave the poor thing alone and just swap out the batteries. It is a cheap and easy solution.
