Well judging that there are kids nowadays who are confused as to who osama bin laden was, I am willing to be the awareness for ken "Griffy" Jr. has probably spiraled so low it's formed into an Anti-awareness field, that perpetually sucks the awareness of anything cared about only in the 90's into a dark oblivion, such as Dolphin awareness, basketball awareness, and Rainforest awareness.

>DBZ still new in America

Every decade blows, because it's full of plenty of people who like terrible things hopping onto the next terrible thing to like. After time goes on and you move past that time the old shitty stuff gets forgotten because it was terrible, and the good stuff rises to the top and tricks you into thinking that the whole period was good. In reality it was just as shitty as any other period, you just don't remember the shit because it wasn't worth remembering.

To be fair, outside of Japan there was no reason to own one when you could have a Playstation. Playstation had just about everything worthwhile that was on the Saturn, plus plenty more exclusives. And the games were way cheaper, Saturn games started at $100 and Playstation games were less than half that.

Meanwhile Tom Kalinske made sure the US didn't get any exclusives for the Saturn, and plenty of ports (Like their fuckawesome version of SotN) never made it over here.

Ah shit, I know that feel. I remember seeing stuff like that and reading about it on the internet and feeling like was looking into the future. Hell, I remember that during the intro to some of the DBZ movies, they showed Vegeta as a SSJ and even that blew my mind since Funimation hadn't taken over yet and Goku hadn't even transformed. I was only vaguely familiar with what a SSJ was at that point so it was all new to me. I remember them endlessly rerunning the episodes that the Ocean group covered and wondering to myself, "will they show new episodes this time?" only to inevitably be disappointed with more reruns. I just about crapped myself when Funi took over and I saw Goku transform for the first time. It was quite a feel.

I tried over in /v/ in their retro game magazine thread, but I'll try it here as well. I am looking for an ad that appeared in, I believe, Game Informer in the late 90's/very early 2000's. I have no idea what the game being advertised was, but I think it was for the PS, and it had Bo Peep topless, with, if I remember correctly, a sheep reaching around to cover her nipples.

If anyone can find it, I will gift them a 30 dollar game via steam.

Its an ad for Nintendo 64 with the quotes:

Mega Mouse is pretty awesome for Sega CD games, like Eye of the Beholder and Skullkeep.

I don't know that any Genesis RPGs would need it, though. There might be some might and magic ports for the console that would, too lazy to google it though.

Seeing this stuff reminds me how back in the 90's, game journalists would actually provide information on upcoming games. I was so hyped with Mega Man X after reading a few pages of the article about it in Game Informer, followed by screenshots of all the different projectiles he had.

Game "journalism" today is a pit of dispair. It's nothing but sell outs raving about whatever new game is advertising on their websites and liberal douchebags pushing their ideology as if I care about their pathetic beta male lifestyle more than being informed about games.

We'll never live in a golden era of gaming again.

It was awesome. Had lots of pointers, and mostly consisted of sprites/tilesets to recreate your favorite games. Keep in mind this was back when the internet wasn't commonplace and viewing sprites at pixel level wasn't really feasible.

It also taught you how to make "music videos" (basically recording Mario Paint video while dubbing the tape with audio from a CD or cassette), which I used to make video presentations in school.

For its time, it was an awesome game, and the guide really helped you not only short-term ("here's how to make a LttP dungeon"), but gave plenty of inspiration to go beyond it.

On a more general note, Nintendo Power player's guides were first-rate back then. I still have all mine, Mario Paint included.
