Let's have a Dreamcast thread. Discuss your favorite games, peripherals, and finds.

>> No.600674

The local shop is selling a Japanese Dreamcast with a ton of games for $120. There were a few I didn't recognize, but most of them were quality games. Here's a list of the games I remember.

Marvel vs. Capcom 2
Street Fighter Zero 3
Capcom vs. SNK 2
King of Fighters 2002
Crazy Taxi
Jet Set Radio
Virtual On

Is it worth it? Could someone recommend me some Japanese exclusive games?

$120 might be a bit much, but those are all really quality games.

My best Dreamcast score has to be "Toy Commander: Christmas Surprise". An exclusive Official Dreamcast Magazine release created by the guy who made Alone in the Dark. It's hard as fuck to find, although nobody knows about it so it's cheap enough if you can find it. Took me months of hunting. And I had to track down the magazine and disc number because people who have the disc don't know what games and demos it has half the time.

Best Dreamcast game I have in terms of playability, though? Shenmue I guess. Or the D/Enemy Zero games.

I would say there were at least 15 games, and just about all of them were worth owning. I'm weary of blowing $120 as well, especially considering I could just burn all those games. But I do love the Dreamcast...

Plus, dat Japanese JSR cover.

>> No.600702

Finally got a Dreamcast Arcade Stick thanks to an awesome anon in the BST thread. Tracking says it's supposed to arrive tomorrow, so I'm hype to finally play CvS2 the way it should be. It's nearly impossible to play on the Dreamcast controller.

Yup. I've only ever emulated single Neo Geo games with it though, so I'm not sure how you would stick a bunch of ROMs on there. I'm it's explained in the readme of whatever emulator you're downloading.

Rez is such a gem of a game my god.
But this reminds me that Real Sound: Kaze no Regret is pretty cool too. I bought it even though my system is NTSC. I understand it's pretty easy to make a Dreamcast boot dick, though, right? I haven't had the time to experiment really yet. Anybody know about how to play JNTSC games on an NTSC Dreamcast?

The Dreamcast stick is awesome. I really need to find a Dreamcast-to-USB converter so I can use it with emulators. It's way better than the shitty Playstation stick I'm using right now.

I received my dreamcast yesterday
>guy included boxed controller, burned games, a vmu, and a sealed web browser
I love him so much.
I started burning so many games, burning Capcom Fightan Collection Right now.

Also, many collector circles regard the dreamcast retro because it was based on the retro Naomi board

I really want to buy an arcade stick. The officially licensed one looks so awesome but its 90 bucks. I dont play a lot of fightan games, but I have bros who love Powerstone and MvC2
any cheap arcade stick?

Or how about best lightgun?

Why did sega remove it so quickly. The PS2's sales died out a few months after it was out because other dvd players dropped to compete. If sega kept it they would have done much better.

Get a total control 2. It converts PS1/2 controllers to Dreamcast with virtually no input lag and maps the buttons perfectly. Plus it's only like 30 bucks.

>> No.600783

Best bet is to use overburn on your Image Burning program. If it's not much over 700mb, there won't really be any problems, but if it's way over, you've gotta buy a 99min disc to get the full game and 99min CDs are stupid expensive.

The Dreamcast modem is 56k, i.e. Dial-up. They sold a broadband adapter, but those are exceedingly rare and expensive these days.

Yeah because its retro. We can talk about N64 games made after 2001.
ironically, dreamcast was during the N64's lifetime. 2 years after its launched, and it died 2 years before the 64 did.

you mean powerstone right? heh, right?

>>600809
They're not rare, just expensive. IIRC, they don't make them in murrica so they've got to be imported and that gets expensive quick.

No idea what the overburn threshold is. Certainly not anything 800mb or over.
