I have 9 craig's list ads for garage sales written down for tomorrow and Saturday, and I'm sure I'm going to see more just driving around.

Though, I do only have about $100 to spend, I'm hoping to find some good deals. A couple ads even listed that they will have video games, so here's hoping.

I did get started early today though, I found a N64 rumble pack at the good will for $2, no battery cover, but it works.

Another trick to finding yard sales is collaborating with any old ladies in your neighborhood. I've been checking Craigslist, but damn if they can sniff out dozens of sales in a few mile radius like a shark smells blood.

I bought a NES, 2 controllers and the zapper with about 15 games (zelda, mario 3 etc, not much filler) from a charity shop for £20 in 2002 then sold it on for not much more a few years later.

I was talking to the owner of my favorite local shop the other day, and he said pricing is a really tough balancing act. If he prices things what he thinks is fair (read, too low), then his stock will be cleared out, and he'll have nothing good to bring in customers. If he prices things too high, no one will buy his stock.

I havent had much luck with garage sales around here. there's a small town nearby that has a massive town-wide yard sale in May but I havent found much there. I havent heard too much about the flea markets around here either (oklahomafag btw). the local retro stores have their games a bit pricey, but affordable at the expense of fast-moving and common stock of games. it's bizarre, sometimes (for example) any given store has like 6 copies of FFVII and then suddenly they, nor their sister stores have any in stock

The vast majority of vinyl are effectively shovelware. They sit in stores for months, sometimes years on end. Plenty of places will sell full rock albums, whatever for 25 or 50c each if it's not somehow special. Vinyl is only valuable if what you have is somehow rare or valuable in a notable way. People find Patsy Cline records from estate sales and think they're like $20+ each simply because they're a little old.

I go to one of the state's bigger flea markets every Sunday morning and I have literally found nothing younger than PS1 and every single game I have seen there was sports/rhythm/racing. And an original XBox with no cords or controllers and a grungy-ass PS1 controller that I don't know how to clean.

Good, cheap retro games are out there OP, you just can't expect to make the absolute best finds every time. 90% of my retro finds are just random games, but I get them anyway because I have a lot of consoles and my tastes are extremely varied.

If you're going out expecting to find copies of really popular or rare games for low, low prices, then you need a lot of luck on your side.

To me, I find that fair pricing for a shop is a few dollars higher than the average amazon/ebay price. It compensates for shipping costs, and an extra buck or two for the shop. So if a game is $10 online, I don't fret over spending up to $15 in a store, since I'm going to pay about $5 for shipping anyways. That's the price of instant-gratification.

I didn't buy it, hell, I didn't even know if the price was fine or maybe it was a lot for a japanese game (I don't collect). But always seemed curious to me find something like that here.
