What retro games/features can't be emulated properly at the moment?
Besides random arcade games the first thing to come to mind is sega genesis system link (zero tolerance).

I've noticed lately many users plan on selling their collections and its nice knowing what isn't possible to play digitally yet.

Sega CD dead, play TG-16 or SNES ver.

>> No.5977492

the n64
the saturn
the dreamcast
most non retro consoles

Shills will claim that Emulation is "better than original hardware" but you spend so much time fucking around with settings that you don't have any time left to actually play the game. The amount of money spent on various controller adapters and a decent enough computer to emulate on, it would have been cheaper to get real hardware and a CRT. I will never understand emufags.

Redream can run on a potato, requires no aditional fileso or settings per game, and you can just plug a DS4 and play

at this point it should be what games have issues/can't be beaten rather than just listing a console.
like yeah emulation doesn't exactly compare to having the real thing. even hearing a disk-based system load can cause nostalgia. however saying a game/system can't be emulated properly when it looks exact when outputted to a crt is silly.

for the emulation argument it ends up being cheaper in the long run. for example imagine you only want to play majority of the snes library. you can get the real hardware, a flashcart and some games not supported by the flashcart but any price computer will get you the same result.

Can you name one single N64, Saturn or Dreamcast game that can’t be emulated? All of a sudden hoardlards get really quiet when you ask this, or when you respond to their claim of a game that can’t be emulated with proof that it can.

First three work fine here. Emulating Naomi for a lot of the games ported to Dreamcast is a good way to go too - haven't found a single game that doesn't work perfectly in Demul.

Sega 32x. Only Picodrive does it but their emulation is poor.
NBA Jam TE won't load a game at all. Kalibri crashes at level 3.
Frankly, it would be easier to list the games that work fine.

Nobody but autists care about 100% emulation. 80, even 70% is good enough to play an entire game. Die mad that people are having fun with games, but not how you want them to.

I have played through many games on those consoles emulated without ever noticing a significant problem. I don't give a shit if some processor subroutine is running at only 99% cycle-accurate timing and neither should you.

Saturn was playable over ten years ago, SSF had something like 85% compatibility and has been in development ever since.

N64 and Dreamcast, I agree. Wasn't there a project to emulate the N64 in full software, without the plugin bullshit? Did it get abandoned?

Fusion focused on getting all commercial 32x games working 100%, but it uses some hacks so it's not emulating the *hardware* 100%. Many prototypes don't work right because of this. Steve Snake confirmed it and added an option for the prototypes specifically.

That's absolutely false. If only 70% or even 80% of a game is working it absolutely will crash or glitch out long before you can complete it.

To my knowledge, Neo Geo emulation hasn’t been worked on in forever, and in its current state runs like garbage. Seriously, try emulating anything in NeoRAGEx; it’s nigh impossible to get anything working correctly.

What in the fuck.
Neo Geo emulation has been around since forever, and the emulator is fucking ugly because you don't need anything else from it, really.
The only times I remember Neo Geo flunking it's when running a first gem or so Pentium II

>> No.5978552

Neo Geo has been 100% perfect in...really most emulators, for a long time. You didn't think to try Final Burn Alpha or MAME? Literally the only place you're likely to see bad NG emulation are on the official SNK products ironically.
