How do I run an N64 on a smart tv? I have my component cables hooked up to the tv: red to red, white to white, and I've tried yellow to blue and green, but I don't get any picture or sound. What do? I got a PS2 running on it no problem.

Amber alert. Lost tard. Based on description (lack of understanding of simple TV connections) assumed <12yo female. Responds to the name/age "Potato"

Does your TV have something that looks like a headphone jack on the rear? If so, you need to get a composite to 3.5mm adapter.

That said? Don't. Just don't. Trust me. Get your N64 modded with an Ultra HDMI (https://www.game-tech.us/product/ultrahdmi/)) - because of some baked-in hardware anti-aliasing, the games will always either look too blurry or too sharp on a non-CRT display. This is the best solution.

Okay thanks.

Apparently it's a dumb question, but why doesn't the N64 work when I hook up the component cables in the same spots as I did for the PS2?

Have you tried another cable? Does that N64 output video with that cable on a different TV?

Anon....that's a COMPOSITE cable....the N64 doesn't support component......

Some modern TVs bundle the RGB and YRW jacks into the same 5 inputs. Mine does, and you have-
>Green/yellow
>blue
>red (video)
>white
>red (audio)

No, I don't have one on hand.

Yes. Same console, same cable, different tv.

Oh shit I'm an idiot, thanks for clarifying.

>> No.5967308

I'd try the green one if you don't have a yellow port. Also like the other anon said try on a different tv to see if the cable is good, and try switching to rgb mode or whatever worked for the ps2, try the blue one if neither red or green worked. If you get it working try game mode for better sync.

i like how you can tell whos been on 4chan on this board since like 2004 cause theyre EXTREMELY out of touch and post 2004 memes

>>5966702
anyways, yellow should go into green. try a different tv/cable to see if everything works maybe?

>> No.5967376

If it's a combined component/composite, you might have to manually switch the signal in your tv's settings. Some auto detect, some don't.

Or your tv just doesn't recognize 240p/480i. That's usually relegated to ultra cheap brands though.

>> No.5967392

Why not just put them in the SCART adapter? That will work on any tv newer than 1995, it's the whole point of SCART.

>> No.5967393

>>5967392
I've never seen a TV with an SCART port in the US. I'm sure they're out there, but I've never come into contact with one.

I assumed he is from europe since it says on the image "PAL version" and "euro connector plug" twice. Also people in europe got a RF connector by default with their Nintendo console until the gamecube so that would explain why he can't tell component from composite. But yeah it doesn't really add up, that's why I asked to clarify, if we're going to suspend belief that it's not a troll post.

>> No.5967430

>>5967393
Exactly one was ever mass produced, under a different name, and it only took a composite signal anyway so even bothering to track one down is pointless unless you're a giga tv nerd

Buy a scaler or mod for HDMI you fucking retard. Even if your TV did accept the signal it would look like fucking shit.

Someone needs to modify the sticky to include information about hooking up old systems to modern TVs. Of course that won't happen since the mods are lazy faggots.
