What's some NES games you like that aren't from the usual suspects ie Nintendo, Capcom, Konami, etc.? Never had Zelda growing up so this is the only game close to it that I got to play

I like Flying Dragon more than any man should. It's Japan-jank, but it's MY Japan-jank.

Crystalis is way better than Nes era Zelda tho

this was a fun little platformer

I wish Crystalis got a sequel, or at least another similar game from SNK.

I recently fell in love with this game.

Had the Neo Geo CD got at least another year or 2 out of it, it was on the board.

>Zelda 1 was February 1986
>Crystalis was April 1986
If you showed both games to somebody who didn't know either they'd think there was a few years gap between releases.
Anyways, those laughable arcade home ports made by other companies, like this one here. Somehow ended up even more monotonous than the original but those character sprites lend it a charm not found elsewhere. Also look at that boxart, such a good fucking boxart that pops out compared to other NES games at the time and it accurately describes what you do in the game instead of being pretty.

Preach. Imagine little me anon at age 12 or so deciding to beat the entire game only to see "congratulations" after 50 states. Still had fun, but does anyone actually beat this anymore?

Developed by Human Entertainment (Clock Tower), only published by HAL Labs. Action-platformer where you're a military operative who beams himself into an alien defense network as an avatar of his ancestor, a kabuki theater actor. Whip stuff with your hair.

I liked this game a lot. It's a shame we never got the SNES sequels/remake though.

Crystalis was not released in 1986, not even in Japan, wikipedia has the info wrong for some reason

Booting the japanese rom shows a trademark for 1989

Yeah, the wiki is all fucked up. I remember seeing crystalis in Nintendo Power either late 88 or early 89 as a preview. I never played it though, looked cool as all get out.
