Yes OP.

Only whingy manchildren have a problem with the NES/SNES online emulation. Playing Super Metroid in bed is comfy as fuck.

>b-but the overlay

It's minimalistic and non-intrusive. Anyone who is genuinely bothered by some white dots on the side of their screen legitimately has autism.

>b-but my PC emulator has 1000 more features

Who gives a fuck? You don't use them anyway. The Switch online emulator has everything a basic emulator needs.

>b-but I have to pay for it

Obviously if you don't want to play online games on Switch just use another emulator. Geez.

I use my New 3DS to play Snes games wherever and whenever I want to.
A modded Switch able to play roms and isos on my TV would be the tits, though.

>Good
>Emulate
Lol. In terms of actually paying money for the product you want to use, it is good. In terms of having games on a non-third world set-up and playing with friends or family, it is good. In terms of running the games decently it is good. So if the question is 'is it an acceptable way to play the game for fun?' It's a yes. Is it the best way? No, that would be real hardware, and I am pretty sure you weren't even asking about best but other people in the thread will steer it that way. Is there an actual advantage to using other emulators? Only if you really prefer them for whatever reason, or you have no money (and anyone fanboy'ing gay emulator shit is usually broke or not getting enough money from their mommy).

Retro games is mostly a Japanese thing, and pirating, translating without consent, or damaging Japan and it's economy in anyway is supported. Same reason it's allowed on /a/, but tv and v feature western trash heavily.

If they made the border optional and eventually added Super-gameboy games it would be pretty compelling.

Fuck no, the joycons are shit for retro so playing in handheld is out of the question. Even if you do get a decent controller and play in docked, they still permanently display all that annoying info on the bottom of the screen and your profile picture on the top left, doesn't even let you have borders. If you absolutely must play SNES on your Switch, at least hack it and install RetroArch instead or don't and buy a SNES Mini instead, it's more expensive up-front but at least it comes with 2 very nice controllers, you can keep the games forever and is easy to hack too.

>> No.5930745

Are people talking about "paying for these" being disingenuous or are they serious? Nobody fucking buys Switch Online for these, it's a cheap to integrate brainless bonus they added for the hell of it. You'd think they're charging an extra 9.99 a month to play these or something from the way people rage about it, shit. It's a boring perk but it's not increasing the price of online at all and literally nobody pays for online because they want to play Star Fox in an emulator.

People complaining about “paying for roms” you’re not getting it.

It’s like buying bottled water, you’re not paying for the water, you’re paying for convenience.

I’ve got all the roms on my SNES mini, I could emulate them all day long on my home PC, laptop, etc.

However if I’ve got my switch traveling etc I have the option to play perfectly emulated retro games.

It’s $5 a month, not a big deal

>It’s like buying bottled water, you’re not paying for the water, you’re paying for convenience.

Real talk senpai, it's far more convenient to just download a rom pack in a few seconds and boot up the emulator. Most of the emulators today are idiot proof and work out of the box. There is no convenience here.

>I’ve got all the roms on my SNES mini, I could emulate them all day long on my home PC, laptop, etc. However if I’ve got my switch traveling etc I have the option to play perfectly emulated retro games.

2011 called. You've been able to do that shit on a lap top, hell even a higher end Netbook. You can also do it on your previously modded handhelds (see PSP/Vita and 3DS) which are a hell of a lot smaller than a Switch and has a far longer battery life.

>It’s $5 a month, not a big deal

It's dumb. I'm not paying Jewtendo for games I already bought 30 years ago and because they're too lazy to put that much effort into their newer games. You wanna know what Nintendo could do to convince me to be their customer again? Stop being lazy, stop trying to resell the same shit to me with a new coat of gloss every generation and most importantly STOP LYING TO ME.

>Oh the Wii can't play DVDs
>Buyfags blindly believe those rice kikes despite the fact that Wii games by default run on DVDs
>Hackers expose Nintendo to be liars and mod the Wii to play DVDs
>Oh the 3DS can't play SNES games, it's processor can't handle it
>They actually expect people to believe the handheld Gamecube lite can't process a fucking SNES game
>Hackers and modders prove them wrong again
>Keep selling the same basic bitch normalfag NES games generation after generation in digital format
>Obscure games never despite Nintendo owning copyrights
>Never any implementation of a Nintendo Account or some such shit so I don't have to buy the same NES game over and over every new system
>Oh please just keep buying the same games over and over again and not notice we're taking your wallet for a free ride

Seriously, Nintendo's sales model and public PR is the biggest thing keeping me from being a customer and after their latest fiasco of going after rom sites, they'll never have my business again especially after what they pulled with the Starfox 2 shitshow on the SNES mini of taking the rom modders on the internet cleaned up for them and then DMCAd it from the net only to put the EXACT same rom into the mini and only changing two screens.

Thank you Nintendo, but my money is in another castle.

I would call you Wiitarded but that's low hanging fruit. When a huge company like Nintendo starts going after sites like that which have been around for decades when they don't even hurt them then it means they are already in a far worse financial situation than they want you to know and pirates didn't do it to them either.

If they're doing so great then why did so many of their executives jump ship recently without explanation?

You forgot the part where you put your credit information into Nintendo's nebulous servers that do such a wonderful job at protecting your data. Then you have to wait FAR longer for a single rom to download because, reasons. Then it installs it. In the time it took you to download a single game and pay for it I can download an entire NES rom set at no charge, my credit information goes to no server or database and I don't need to install anything.

You're retarded. You just like consuming. I'm almost assured that you're a Nintendo shill at this point because a lot of your arguments are paper thin and you're using bullet point counter arguments that we've already seen from proven shills on /v/ in years past.

It's garbage. There's literally zero appeal besides the novelty of playing snes games on your switch, and "muh nintendo official product". It's pathetic how little they try for these and yet people still get excited.
