What's the most disturbing /vr/ related game out there?

Phantasmagoria 1/2?

I could never finish them, that thrilling atmosphere scared the fuck out of me even when nothing was going on.

I'd say Splatterhouse pretty high up there. The gruesome imagery and body horror is still very effective to this day. Kinda wish the reboot kinda went more in the direction of the original games instead of just comical brutality.

Generally there are two reactions when it comes to Harvester. You either think it is absolutely hilarious and bizarre or you think it is disturbing and made by a psychopath.

Oh god, the death scenes in that game scarred me for life as a kid. For some reason, this shit is much more disturbing than any modern game could possibly be. Not sure why.

Or you're one of the people who's actually played it because it was a point and click rather than watched an LP and think it's utter shit that attempts to hide the fact that it's shit by theming it as a b-movie.
I remember when I first head about the game in a PCGamer mag. They thought it was shit too.

Here is another one with disturbing death scenes, Heart of Darkness:

I'm not sure what ESRB was thinking when they rated this E. There is no blood, but damn.

Something about the primitive 3D graphics gives this a much more disturbing feel than the other games.

people seem to forget that pre-9/11 western society had different ideas about what was appropriate for children, in fact I think it's more disturbing that this would be considered too much for children by today's standards
I don't think that the over sanitizing of everything is good for kids at all actually

3D graphics had already come a long way by the time Silent Hill came around.

And then add that to the fact that Silent Hill was near the latter end of the PS1's lifespan.

Modern games present your deaths to you as a 100% complete package you watch and admire how your death has been rendered. Waxworks gives you an anatomically correct still image of your mangled corpse sometime after you died, so it's engages your brain to think about exactly how your character ended up as it did in the image.

TL;DR imagination
