bless the lad that discovered using a nice gritty pencil eraser for cleaning those pins

>> No.5893919

>>5893914
i have been collecting for awhile, over 15 years...and the eraser was huge discovery. In the early days of the surge of retro collecting, people were advocating using magic erasers to remove markers and what not. That ended up destroying the plastic and leaving a highly apparent smooth area.

More like God rest his soul. The person who discovered this is long dead and buried.

does this work on DS cartridge pins

Just use contact cleaner, dumbass.

>> No.5894127

>>5894124
Like brasso? That can damage the pins.

>> No.5894130

You can use alcohol and microfiber towels and you can use a solvent that faggots use to relax their buttholes.

>> No.5894160

>>5894130
That should always be the first step, but the fact is sometimes that's just not enough. That's when you break out the big guns aka the eraser.

yup had a reeaaal manky kart, the alcohol + qtips werent shifting shit

Like fucking isopropyl alcohol and a Q-tip.

Doesn't do the same thing kiddo. But thanks for showing off your low IQ an inexperience.

no retard, brasso is metal polish, not contact cleaner. Contact cleaner is specifically designed for this.

I use this method too. The SFC carts sometimes do not work when they arrive, but they were all fine one I cleaned them with an eraser.

Pencil erasers introduce electro static discharge, meaning you are damaging the chips on your.pcb. Alcohol leaves residue. Use contact cleaner only.

Would using distilled water after alcohol use mitigate the residue?

nigger what do you think the main ingredient in any standard contact cleaner is

>> No.5895592

you know the red erasers are too harsh for golden plates right, you also remove it slowly, use the white soft eraser.

you know that WHO GIVES A FUCK YOU FAGGOT

>> No.5895609

>>5895592
This, you have to be careful with that shit. You're using it as an abrasive and literally trying to scrape the corrosion/dirt/whatever away. Go too hard with it and you take the gold plating off the contacts and fuck your shit up.

>> No.5895631

>>5895592
huh good tip, curious if a kneadable eraser would be even better if you're after something softer

>> No.5896871

I usually try an eraser first, then alcohol. If neither works, I’ve found some success simply scraping off corrosion with a thumb tack.

>> No.5896885

>>5895631
Don't use any erasers that are 'colored' only plain soft white erasers. I think that's the most important part.

Conact cleaner is a scam. Just buy 99.9% isopropyl alcohol and stop getting jewed.

Why would it matter how fast it evaporates if you are using it to loosen up grime you silly anon?
