I started back when there were only eight choices. So I took the main who wasn't a little bitch. Ken's moves have so much more style and they only got better as their move sets diverged.

(In reality I played SF I at a Pizza Hut once first, but didn't even realize it was the original for at least a year or two. It was bad.)

Totally. My favorite thing about Dan is that even his worst moves are his best moves. His roundhouse wannabe hurricane kick almost always misses the mark while the short and forward versions are much more likely to land. It's such a Dan thing to do. I've never actually played SF4, though, 3rd strike being as far as I've gotten. My Dan experience is from the Alphas.

I'm mainly a KoF fan so Dan feels really familiar and I think that gave me a bit of an advantage when using him. 3 is my favorite of the SF games but even that I didn't play loads of because I was super into KoF at the time. However I was so disappointed with the turn that XII and XIII took that I ended up playing SF4 a lot instead.

Yeah see back then I was more of an ML fan. I still played a large amount of SF2 because it's what more people played and it's clearly a better game, but I have never liked the SF characters as much and think 2 especially is a pretty ugly game. MK had that 80's action movie vibe and I really liked how wacky the cast was. I think that's why I liked SF3 as well since it had more interesting characters to my tastes and it was gorgeous.

Actually it was MK9 that mostly made me move on from SF4 again even though it was never as good and then Injustice which was really my jam for a while. I had a shit ton of fun with that game.

I thought MK1 was pretty rad at the time but 2 was the one I really got into and played like crazy almost every day. 3 is where the series lost me and still stands out as one of my all time big gaming disappointments and I took a hiatus from fighters in general for a couple of years before being introduced to the glory that is KoF and that sucked me in for a long long time.

That's what I saw right from the start. The idea of fatalities was such a novel concept that the chance to murder your foes stole a lot of SF's thunder, but when push came to shove, SF's complexity made it such a great game by comparison. That's why I loved Guilty Gear X2 #Reload so damned much on my ecksbawks. All the complexity of Street Fighter, an equally deep story and absolutely beautiful pixel art to boot.

I deffinitely agree and also thought so at the time. But I find the base SF2 roster so boring and lame I stuck with MK anyways since even if it wasn't quite as good it was still pretty cool and I enjoyed the setting and characters a lot more. When they dropped the ball with 3 though I was done and dropped the series entirely until trying 9 which turned out to be much like 2. A technical mess but still a lot of fun and strangely rewarding.

I should probably give GG a more serious try one of these days but I'm a bit weird with fighters, unless I like one enough to learn to play it competitively I tend not to bother with it since I hate single player. It's how I ended up playing a bunch of SF4 of all things.

I'm sure my love of GGX2 came because the first time I played the game I housed the whole room for two rounds, one of them even using a boss character against me and losing till the owner squashed me with his best character. I mean... I put up a fight, but it wasn't a big one. It was obvious to me from the start that the game's mechanics played enough like SFII that it would just come naturally to me. I highly recommend it if you enjoy SFII's play style.

I always liked pre-SF4 Sak for properly projecting proper/tough martial arts shouts despite being a kawaii school girl. Well I'm black so I feel a racial connection to him, kind of like how black guys love Uub from DBZ, but also love his moveset. His tornado kick reminds me of Dan's which I always like, he has that sick ground and pound command grab, cool super arts like that flashy hyper tornado, and mashing out the extra damage for shoryu cannon was always satisfying. I think time doesn't work in the SF world anymore. Chun-Li looks the same as she did in SF2 but in SF5 everyone's using cell phones and shit. According the original lore she was born in the 60s or something which obviously by today's standards doesn't hold up. It's like the Simpsons, they all stay the same age but every game still takes place in modern times when it was released. Except Alpha was obviously designed to be a prequel to SF2 so they looked younger, but it's the exception.
